PRESS CONFERENCE: “Bad Prosecutor” Banks On Amusing Investigation Story And Interesting Characters

Slated to launch on October 5, Bad Prosecutor lead stars graced the online drama presentation.

Bad Prosecutor depicts the story of a rogue prosecutor in an action-investigative drama. He is specifically fond of rounding up hordes of evil people taking advantage of wealth and power.

Marking his post-military drama is EXO member and actor Doh Kyung Soo. He plays “bad prosecutor” Jin Jung who chose expediency rather thanlaw; trickery rather than rule and depravity rather than sincerity. Prosecutor Jin Jung is keen to punish the corrupt and privileged who are destroying society.

He teams up with Shin A-ra, a senior prosecutor in the 3rd division of the Central District Prosecutors’ Office, portrayed by Lee Se Hee.

Meanwhile, Ha-joon presents tension as Oh Do-hwan, who is a meticulous and ambitious prosecutor.

Rounding up the main cast are Kim Sang Ho, Lee Si Eon, Joo Bo Young, Yeon Jun Seok, Kim Tae Woo and Choi Kwang Il.

At the online presentation, Director Kim Seong Ho and lead stars Doh Kyung Soo, Lee Se Hee and Ha Joon shared their thoughts about the series.

Promising a well-made series, Director Kim vouched for the interesting character.

“It is a drama like a comprehensive gift set with a special bad prosecutor character who maneuvers mystery investigations and comic situations.”

Expressing his goal to direct a public network drama, the director also shared his apprehension and determination for his latest work.

“I mainly direct films. I’m nervous, but I’m greedy. I wanted to try a KBS drama. A good drama that KBS can show through various platforms. Both the characters and the story are really attractive and novel. Above all, the biggest difference is that actor Doh Kyung-soo appears in the series.”

He adds how he is satisfied with the actors that will bring life to the story.

“Casting is an important part of directing. Good casting is important. Fortunately, I secured all the actors I had been eyeing.”

Engrossing Script and Story

Sharing the creative process, Director Kim explained, “I valued balance in the directing. I paid a lot of attention not to appear too serious or too dark. The action is also not cool, but comical with light elements.”

Fascinated by the script, Doh Kyung Soo shares that the interesting script and charming characters are significant reasons for his decision to appear.

Echoing Doh’s words, Lee Se Hee mentions it was a fun and unpredictable drama that would make viewers curious. “I wanted to show the weight that comes from the work of a prosecutor,” she added.

Ha Joon conveys wanting to work with Director Kim, adding there’s no reason why he won’t work with Doh Kyung Soo and Lee Se Hee.

On Preparing For Bad Prosecutor Characters

Nervous and excited for his new drama after four years, EXO’s D.O vouches doing his best to show a new image.

“The real character is different from the real me. Since I am a calmer person, I paid attention to exterior styling. It’s clothes I would never wear normally, and I did a perm for the first time since my debut. I thought about how to express it, but I made it through the conversation on the spot. Right now, I’m having a lot of fun filming.”

His idol experience also helped him with the action scenes for his role.

“There are quite a few action scenes, but I didn’t prepare separately. Since I memorize the movements even when dancing, I think it can be done comfortably and fun while doing the action while filming.”

After the high-rating KBS2 weekend drama Young Lady and Gentleman, Lee Se Hee is greeting K-Drama fans with her first mini-series.

She said, “I am happy to be with KBS again. Working on my character, I incorporated acting that fits the comedy genre.”

Ha Jun also reunites with KBS viewers after the KBS2 drama Crazy Love. He describes and puts a disclaimer on his latest character.

“The character I play will piss off viewers. I worked hard on my acting so that I got a lot of cursing. But from my point of view, I am just trying to get a promotion as an office worker.”

Both Lee Se Hee and Ha Joon assure their teamwork in Bad Prosecutor is palpable. They also laud Doh Kyung Soo’s relaxed attitude while filming.

Inviting fans to watch the premiere of the series, they each take turns with their pitches.

“I hope people who are under a lot of stress will see it. I can relieve stress in a cool way.” – Doh Kyung Soo

“I punish evil in a refreshing way. I will serve a bowl of cider to people who do annoying things.” – Lee Se Hee

Bad Prosecutor premieres on October 5 at 9:50 PM on KBS2. International fans can watch it on Viu.
