Promising saccharine moments in a seaside village, Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha preps to give the viewers a refreshing love story they signed up for.

Ahead of its premiere on August 28, Shin Min Ah, Kim Seon Ho, Lee Sang Yi and director Yu Je Won graced their presence at the media conference. Sharing stories and filming experiences, the lead stars and Director Yu further pique interest with the visible synchrony of their interactions.

Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha depicts the quirky feel-good romance between the pragmatic dentist Yoon Hye-jin (Shin Min Ah) and the unemployed jack-of-all-trades Du-sik (Kim Seon Ho) in the seaside town of Gongjin where human warmth and the scent of sea salt linger on.

The series features the detailed artistry and vision of Director Yu Je-won who has helmed Oh My Ghost and Tomorrow With You.

Kim Seon Ho’s Interesting Jack-of-all-Trades Character

Sharing the heartwarming story was the drawing point on his decision to appear in the series, Kim Seon Ho emphasized how he felt connected to portray a character who is uniquely human.

Moreover, he was impressed with his jobless but neighborhood-go-to-guy role.

“Handyman Hong has so much that he does, so in order to do that, I had to set some time apart to learn those trades. I learned from a surfer and a barista. I needed some lead time before the shooting, but at the same time Hong Du-sik is unemployed so I also needed to make sure that I maintain balance.”

When asked which license among the long list of skills licenses Du-sik has that he wants to have, he answered realtor and fruit plater licenses.

“I really was interested in the realtor license since these days, a lot of us are interested in real estate. In one of Du-sik’s licenses, being a professional fruit plater is also interesting. Du-sik has a lot of licenses, and I too wish I can also do that in real life.”

Cleverly quipping Du-sik’s projected charming effect to viewers, particularly ladies, he sweetly foresees a new swoon-worthy K-Drama oppa coming up.

“It would be so fun if a lot of women would want a boyfriend like Du-sik. It would be nice if they would show their cameras to their parents with a picture of Du-sik as a boyfriend. It would be a fun trend.”

On Working Together With Shin Min Ah and Lee Sang Yi

Satisfied with his connection with his female lead, Kim pointed out the visual and candid synergy he shared with Shin Min Ah.

“Shin Min Ah is a good character and really nice. She accepts all the playful words and actions. She’s a fun person to be with, so every moment we enjoy time together. Also, she loves preparing jokes that she throws to us.”

“When we take photos together and look at the atmosphere and mood, everyone says we look good together and it was something nice to hear.”

Likewise, he also praised co-actor Lee Sang Yi.

“I am actually amazed on Lee Sang Yi’s work on set. He is talented and I learn a lot from him. He is gifted and I think the director feels the same way that he can bring much potential on set.”

Filming in such a scenic and rejuvenating place, Kim also disclosed how family-like the whole cast was while shooting.

“I feel like we were all immersed in the village. We all wake up together, and we really felt we blended in that village. On a hot afternoon, we share ice cream together with small stories. Our time there was so enjoyable, and up to now I feel like we are still playing in that village.”

He also reckoned a cute anecdote of how they got sick of eating potatoes in one of the scenes they filmed so the director had to change it to squid.

Lastly, the actor pledged what to expect in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha.

“It is a drama that can help people heal, and I had a lot of fun in this project. There are a lot of small stories, so I hope everyone could enjoy it.”
