Undercover Miss Hong Opening Week Story
Meet Hong Geum-bo (Park Shin Hye)—a sharp, principled investigator at the Financial Supervisory Department. She takes her job seriously, even if it means calling out her own superiors. Unfortunately, her strong moral compass makes her an outlier in a male-dominated office that doesn’t quite know what to do with her.
While digging into shady dealings at Hanmin Investment and Securities, Geum-bo receives a critical lead about a hidden slush fund ledger. The whistleblower? None other than Kang Myung-hwi, heir to the company. But before the investigation can move forward, tragedy strikes—President Kang’s sudden death is ruled a suicide, allegedly sparked by the department’s pressure.
The only key left to unlocking Hanmin’s corruption is a mysterious figure known as “Yehppee,” tied to the missing ledger.
So what’s Geum-bo’s next move?
Go undercover.
With a new alias, Hong Ja-mi, she infiltrates Hanmin as a rookie assistant in the Risk Management division. She even moves into the company dormitory to get closer to Go Bok-hee (Ha Yoon Kyung)—President Kang’s loyal secretary, who has her own suspicious past.
Plot twist: Bok-hee’s roommate turns out to be Kang No-ra, the chairman’s daughter. And while Geum-bo is trying to get close to Bok-hee for answers, No-ra is trying to get close to Geum-bo for reasons we’re dying to uncover.
And just when things couldn’t get more complicated, the new company president is revealed to be Shin Jung-woo (Go Kyung Pyo), aka Geum-bo’s first love.
Avoiding him as much as she could, the slim chance they could meet happened much earlier than she expected.
Undercover Miss Hong Opening Week Musings
For viewers who grew up in the 90s—or just love that era’s vibe—this drama feels like stepping into a stylish time capsule. From its stock-market intrigue to its old-school office culture, the retro setting adds charm and unpredictability to the story.
Park Shin Hye as Geum-bo is proving her confidence in exploring a range of characters. From the looks of it, she’ll have a heyday with a few knights in shining armours. She shines as a feisty heroine with grit and grace, while her dynamic with Ha Yoon Kyung promises a compelling mix of tension and teamwork, as we don’t know yet if they will become rivals or allies.
Looking ahead, the reunion romance is poised to defy Jung-woo’s current responsibility and we sure want more flashbacks to his 80s romance with Geum-bo.
Fun and engaging, the workplace humor, vibe and interesting mix of characters warrant a weekly following for Undercover Miss Hong.
