Bad Buddy Episode 1 Key Moments

“When he gets mad, he just can’t control it.”

Engineering student Pat and his friends corner an architecture student, Wai, threatening to beat him up over circumstances occurring previously. When Wai asks for a fair fight, Pat gives him two minutes to get his friends to come to his aid.

One of Wai’s friends, fellow architecture student Pran, is Pat’s oldest rival. Their families live next door to each other, and have had deep rivalries with one another for decades. The husbands attempt to be better in their work achievements, the wives want their children to be better than the others no matter the circumstances. Thus, on the public front, it appears that the sons hate each other.

The battle between the faculties is the same as the battle between the families, with architecture students and engineering students pitting themselves against one another. While the groups were cheering on different football teams the night before, Wai had given the finger to the engineering students, leading to the fight.

Both Pat and Pran have been selected as class presidents, have dorm rooms at the university, and have families who don’t want them to be involved with one another due to their rivalries.

“You think I followed you here?”

With a chance meeting out the front of their houses while putting their bins out, Pran and Pat get into a heated argument. The two of them start kicking the bins to argue whether one of the bins is over the property line. With arguments about such inane things coming to the forefront, it becomes apparent that these families will argue about literally anything.

Both students then apply for the “Freshy Music Festival” 2021, once again in an attempt to one-up one another. Pat attempts to stall Pran for long enough so that the former’s friends can attack Wai. The attempt goes sour, though, as Pat’s friends end up jumping Pran, who was not responsible.

“I come in peace.”

Pat saves Pran from being beaten up by pulling him into a gap between buildings and covering his mouth so that he doesn’t make a noise. Giving him a trip home and a spare shirt so that he will not have to explain the fight to his mother.

A flashback scene shows that Pat’s sister doesn’t care about the rivalries between the families, as Pran was responsible for saving her when she started drowning once as a child, the circumstances of which they do not explain to their parents.

Pat sneaks into Pran’s room that night, explaining that he doesn’t want to fight, and that he just wants Pran to stop looking out for Wai, and that it is his sister Pa’s asking that their rivalry not continue.

“I won’t leave until I get what I want.”

A fight starts over a situation Pran and Pat had hoped to avoid. The pair had originally come to the agreement the night before that as long as Wai apologizes to Pat for giving him the finger at the bar while watching the football match, the architecture and engineering faculties will back off from one another. However, Pat’s friend Korn refuses the apology, leading to another fight between the students of the different schools.

When Pran buys the last of the bruise cream from a pharmacy and offers some of it to Pat, it becomes increasingly clear that the two of them are not as confrontational as their families. They add each other’s Chat ID so that they will not need to continue sneaking into each other’s rooms whenever they want to speak to each other.

Another flashback shows that this rivalry-friendship facade that the two have has been going on for years. While not exactly the best of friends, Pat and Pran most certainly aren’t the enemies that everyone else seems to think that they are. The two have been sneaking into one another’s rooms for years to talk to each other so that their families don’t know about it.

As the episode ends, it shows that the two have rented dorm rooms opposite one another at the university.

Bad Buddy Episode 1 Musings

Fans have been waiting for GMMTV to air Bad Buddy for some time now, with BL fans having noticed the trailer put on their YouTube channel a fair while ago.

The show certainly opens with a little intrigue. It appears to have a lot of action in an enemies-to-lovers trope romantic comedy. But it also shows that the enemies may not be as close enemies as originally thought.

The first episode hits well, but it does leave something to be desired when it comes to the story. While still a great opening, it may have been a little disappointing. Given that many fans have been waiting for so long for the series, it’s also clear that they were expecting a little more.

That won’t be a reason to give up the series, though, as a great many fans will also be waiting to see how the show develops over the next few episodes.

Bad Buddy

Korapat Kirdpan (Nanon) and Pawat Chittsawangdee (Ohm) have a chemistry that works well off one another. At this early stage in the series, where the main couple is just the main rivals, the chemistry is working quite well. It is obvious how well their relationship will be when they do eventually become a couple.

So, how long will it be before these enemies become lovers? Find out by watching episodes weekly as they air on GMMTV’s YouTube channel on Friday nights!
