The two talented actors are recognized as Daesang awardees at the recent 2022 KBS Drama Awards.

Held on December 31, at KBS in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, the event was hosted by Jeon Hyun Moo, Jung Yong Hwa and Lee Hyeri.

For their respective winning portrayals in The King of Tears, Lee Bang Won and The Law Cafe; Joo Sang Wook and Lee Seung Gi are both grateful.

Conveying their honest thoughts, they took turns in relaying their thankful words.

First, Joo Sang Wook meaningfully recounts the waiting time for his acting award took time and was hard for him.

“The waiting time from the beginning until now was very difficult. I think it was 25 years ago. I debuted with a small role in a KBS youth drama, and I even received an award from KBS. Thank you so much. Resurrected. I also acted when I was young and vaguely thought, ‘Will I ever get a chance to play a role like that? It was so hard day by day that I couldn’t handle it alone. At that time, there were so many seniors and juniors who always supported and helped me like my brother and my family. Also, to all of you who support and love the historical drama, keep your loyalty until the end. Thank you so much for watching and trusting.”

He also shared the gift with his loving and faithful wife, Cha Ye Ryun; and run down the people he is grateful for.

“There are so many people I’m thankful for. I’m sure you’re watching it on TV at home, but my dear mother, I’ve never told you that I love you properly. Thank you so much and I always love you so much. Also, I love my daughter Ina, who doesn’t know what her father does, and I thank my mother-in-law who takes care of her. She is always by my side and cheers me by saying I’m the best. She came to the awards ceremony with me today. That makes this awards’ ceremony happier. My one and only wife, Cha Ye-ryun, I love you, my wife.”

Subsequently, Lee Seung Gi, who has been embroiled in recent controversies also shared his happiness in receiving the award. He acknowledges how the individual award he received came from all the efforts of people who work together for The Law Cafe.

“First of all, I’m grateful. I’m really nervous. This year seems to have been the hardest year in my life, but I’m grateful and sorry for giving me such a big award. I thought about whether I should ask for your understanding and not attend this event hundreds of times. As many of you know, I have a personal matter, but it bothers me that I just came to this festival and kept my smile up. There is only one reason why I decided to come here. Since the drama is created by the team, I believe that the hard work of the staff and actors who put their hearts into this drama should not be ignored because of my personal problems. Thank you for giving me a big award, and I apologize for receiving it.”
