Highlighted dramas in the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards are relatively dominated by female lead-centric stories.
Notably, the TV category went through a fierce screening process from the selection of candidates amidst the flood of content from various channels and platforms.
A splendid list of candidates for the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards was completed showcasing bold and innovative content.
It will take place at Incheon Paradise City on April 28 from 5:30 pm and will be broadcast live simultaneously on JTBC, JTBC2 and JTBC4, and digitally on TikTok.
Baeksang Arts Awards, the only comprehensive art awards ceremony in Korea encompassing TV, film, and theater, places top priority on professionalism and fairness and selects candidates (works) through a strict screening.
To refer to various voices, a preliminary survey was conducted by 60 professional evaluators in the industry. Thereafter, judges for each category appointed on the recommendation of a group of experts representing TV, film, and theater decide the final candidates through a stringent screening process.
The targets for this year’s screening are content provided on terrestrial, comprehensive, cable, OTT, and web from April 1, 2022 to March 31, 2023, as well as Korean feature films and plays performed in Korea during the same period.
In the TV category, at least four episodes of content provided on terrestrial, general, cable, OTT, and web are included. In the case of serial works, only works that have been broadcast for more than one-third of the screening date are included. However, works that were excluded during last year’s candidate screening period will be classified for this year’s screening.
