“Connect” Lead Stars and Director Share Filming Insights and Casting Stories

Connect

Director Takashi Miike and the main cast of Connect take part in the Disney Contents Showcase 2022.

On November 30, the first Disney Contents Showcase 2022 was held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center in Singapore. Japanese Director Takashi Miike attended the event along with the cast of the Korean-made series Connect starring Jung Hae In, Go Kyung Pyo, and Kim Hye Jun.

Connect is a science fiction series about a human being with an immortal body. It is based on webcomic Connect by Shin Dae Jung. Ha Dong Soo (Jung Hae In) was kidnapped by an organ trafficking organization. Later on, He ran after the serial killer to stop him from killing people.

Director Takashi shared that he was delighted to have come this far. This is his first collaboration with Korea as well as his first streaming work in Disney+. He was always fond of Korean actors and wondered what was different between them and the Japanese actors.

Main Characters Share Thoughts About Connect

The main leads reveal that they didn’t have a hard time filming because the atmosphere on the set was light. The staff, director, and actors were also considerate.

Jung Hae In was worried about his character a lot. He wondered how Dong-soo will use his ability appropriately and how he will move accordingly.

“While playing Dong Soo, I didn’t think of him as a hero. I acted while thinking of him as a person who wants to be a hero and a man who wants to take on accidents and incidents.”

On the other hand, Go Kyung Pyo shared that he showed a new side of himself to portray his character Oh Jin-seop. In this way, the viewers would be able to see him differently. “The atmosphere of our drama is also a new genre. So, I think it will provide a lot of interest,” he added.

Kang Hye Jun also tried CG acting or a little action acting this time. It was also her first time to bleach her hair and try various things.

Interesting Story About Casting

Go Kyung Pyo made the audience laugh when he said, “I was born in a good time.” Apparently, he was recommended by Jung Hae In to be one of the cast members of the series. “I received good energy when we worked together so I wished that we could do it again. Despite the character’s confrontational relationship, I enjoyed it a lot”, Jung Hae-in commented.

It was revealed that Go Kyung Pyo has always been an avid fan of director Takashi. His character requires a slim body but he couldn’t lose weight. So, he was thankful to the director that he accepted and loved him as it is.

Connect will be released in full episodes on Disney+ on December 7th.
