Seo Hyun Jin and Jang Ryul Reveal Their Personal Takes on Love in Love Me

JTBC’s upcoming Friday drama Love Me explores the growth of a not-so-perfect family that finally begins to love one another—beyond duty, beyond habit.

After Yoo Jae-myung and Yoon Se-ah teased an emotional “second-act romance,” this time it’s Seo Hyun Jin and Jang Ryul who usher in a new wave of relatable, heart-tugging love.

When asked about their own philosophies, Seo Hyun-jin chose “choice and trust,” while Jang Ryul emphasized “sincerity and the will to understand each other’s flaws.”

Seo Hyun-jin as Seo Jun-kyung: Loving Through Choice & Trust

On the outside, Jun-kyung is flawless—a respected OB-GYN with a tidy life. Inside, she’s quietly suffocating in loneliness. To her, love has always been a lukewarm, almost mechanical exchange. She doesn’t need it… or so she tells herself.

Then comes Do-hyun—the unassuming next-door neighbor who somehow sees right through her carefully built walls.

Seo Hyun-jin describes their dynamic:
“They collide often, and something always happens between them. They stand at crossroads again and again.”

At every crossroad, Jun-kyung leans on choice and trust—choosing what feels right in the moment, trusting herself and the other person. Seo Hyun-jin hints, “Viewers will have plenty to debate about those choices.”

Jang Ryul as Joo Do-hyun: Loving by Embracing Imperfections

Do-hyun is a music director with effortless humor and a talent for comforting people. Romance isn’t on his agenda—until Jun-kyung enters his life like a quiet storm.

Jang Ryul shared a poignant insight:
“Recognizing Jun-kyung’s loneliness means Do-hyun has known loneliness too.”

Their bond, he says, stems from two imperfect people choosing to embrace each other’s gaps, not gloss over them.

Do-hyun’s love language is simple yet deeply tender:
“He wants her to come home to warm food and a cozy space. He wants to accept every joy, sorrow, and emotion—no filters, no hiding.”

Whether he can become the unwavering safe place Jun-kyung yearns for becomes the central heartbeat of their romance.

Why Their Love Story Feels So Real

The production team describes Jun-kyung and Do-hyun’s relationship as “a love rooted not in perfection, but in mutual recognition—two people acknowledging each other’s loneliness and choosing not to turn away.”

Their journey is about navigating crossroads with openness, honesty, and imperfect courage.

Based on the acclaimed Swedish series Love Me—also remade in Australia—the Korean adaptation drops Episodes 1 and 2 back-to-back on JTBC on the 19th at 8:50 PM.
