“No Tail to Tell” Introduces Kim Hye Yoon as a Bold New Gumiho for the MZ Generation

SBS’s new Friday–Saturday drama No Tail to Tell is already stirring up anticipation, promising a fresh twist on one of Korea’s most beloved mythical figures — the gumiho.

But this isn’t the elegant, tragic fox spirit viewers are used to. Instead, the drama delivers something completely new: an unapologetically modern, quirky, and delightfully chaotic “MZ gumiho.”

No Tail to Tell follows the story of Eun-ho, played by Kim Hye Yoon, whose recent performance in Lovely Runner turned her into one of drama-land’s most talked-about stars. Eun-ho is eccentric to the core — and unlike every gumiho before her, she has absolutely no interest in becoming human. Beside her is Kang Si-yeol, portrayed by Lomon of All of Us Are Dead fame, a self-obsessed global football legend who unintentionally gets swept into Eun-ho’s supernatural orbit.

And that’s where the fun begins.

A Gumiho Who Refuses to Be Human

Traditionally, gumihos have followed a familiar path: completing good deeds, falling in love with a human, or making sacrifices in exchange for mortality. Eun-ho breaks that mold entirely. She avoids men. She avoids kindness. She avoids anything that might make her even remotely human.

Why? Because life as a gumiho is already perfect.
She has eternal youth, breathtaking beauty, and complete freedom — and she fully intends to enjoy every second of it.

In the gumiho world, she is both the “golden child” and the lovable rebel — carefree, self-indulgent, and more than a little mischievous. Her dramatic refusal to follow tradition makes her one of the most refreshing fantasy heroines we’ve seen in recent years.

Enter Kang Si-yeol — Superstar, Narcissist, Trouble Magnet

Then there’s Kang Si-yeol, an international football sensation whose charisma is matched only by his ego. He loves success, loves attention — and very possibly loves himself most of all.

But fate (or perhaps chaos) throws him and Eun-ho together, binding the lives of a stubborn supernatural being and a human star who has no idea what he’s gotten himself into. Their encounters promise witty banter, emotional clashes, and an unpredictable chemistry that balances heart with humor.

A Myth Meets the MZ Era

Even before filming wrapped, the drama had already sparked industry buzz — thanks in large part to its casting. Kim Hye-yoon’s sharp comedic timing and emotional depth paired with Romon’s rising global presence make for a duo viewers are eager to watch.

Add the show’s fantasy-romance flair and stylish production, and expectations continue to rise.

What makes No Tail To Tell truly intriguing is how it redefines an old legend for a new generation.

Instead of longing for humanity, Eun-ho questions whether becoming human is even worth it — reflecting modern themes of self-identity, independence, and living life on your own terms. The drama blends magical storytelling with relatable inner conflicts, wrapped in humor, romance, and whimsical charm.

As the premiere approaches, one thing feels certain: viewers aren’t just getting another gumiho story — they’re getting a bold, witty reimagining that might just redefine the myth altogether.
