Cheer Up Episode 13 Highlights

“I was always busy working part-time and stuff. You took care of everything. I took it for granted when nothing should be taken for granted.”

Previously on Cheer Up, Hae-yi’s life was put at risk again as Jin-il planned to lock her as he started a fire inside the room. To cover himself, Jin-il saved Hae-yi from the fire to prevent speculations on him.

Fortunately, Hae-yi recovered fast, and all Theia members looks out for her while Captain Jung-woo and Cho-hee secretly investigated possible suspects. On the other hand, Sun-ja approached Hae-yi first to apologize and fix their recent argument.

On Sun-ja’s visit to Hae-yi’s house, Hae-yi also opens up to her best friend and admits her shortcomings. With that, the two reconciled quickly and returned to being themselves in front of one another.

“I worked hard for months. Let’s wait and see whether it was an accident or if it was on purpose. We shouldn’t avoid bad things. We should get rid of them.”

As Hae-yi returned to Theia after the incident, rumors of her relationship with Captain Jung-woo greeted her. Nevertheless, they continue to be private about their status and ignore other Theia members.

With the threats persist escalating, Jung-woo suggests to Hae-yi that she should quit Theia for her safety. However, this idea never occurred to Hae-yi, but she insists that they should face these threats together and find the culprit.

Setting aside the recent incidents, Theia has another upcoming activity, the Yonhee-Hokyung Rivalry. During their preparations for the events, Jung-woo continues to be bothered by Hae-yi and Sun-ho’s conversation at the abandoned hospital.

Due to this, he becomes unsettled whenever the two are together. Regardless of the mixed emotions, he was feeling, Jung-woo shrugs off these emotions and purchases tickets to an event that Hae-yi wanted to attend.

“When you need peace of mind, come over. I’ll let you sleep in my room. But don’t come too often.”

Preparing for their date, Hae-yi received a call from Sun-ho that her mother needed to be rushed to the hospital. Together with her mom, Hae-yi helped Sun-ho, then later called Jung-woo and said that she cannot make it.

Furthermore, Sun-ho said that her mom passed out from drinking too much alcohol under severe stress. Now that Jin-hee is in a stable state, Hae-yi’s mother insisted that she will take care of her.

Since Sun-ho doesn’t want to go home, Choon-yang offered Sun-ho to stay the night at their house. When Sun-ho and Hae-yi arrived, Sun-ho changed his mind about sleeping at Hae-yi’s house.

However, his stomach said otherwise, and they both agreed to eat ramyeon. After eating, Sun-ho opens up to Jae-yi about how much he feels secure with their family.

Meanwhile, Jung-woo saw that the two going inside Hae-yi’s house together, adding confusion to him.

“You got what you deserve for breaking the rule. It’s all your fault. It’s your fault, Hae-yi.”

The next day, Sun-ho and Hae-yi arrived at school together, which Jung-woo noticed. Regardless of the uneasiness he has been feeling, Jung-woo did not stop digging into the mystery of the recent incidents.

Additionally, he tries to meet with Soo-il in person again since he is not fully convinced about his confessions. Soo-il, who was not found guilty in the case of the omitted 3,000 festival budget, is not scared of Jin-il’s threats anymore.

With that, he bravely confronted Jin-il and thought about how outrageous his actions were just to get attention. Setting up the fire led Soo-il no choice but to tell Jung-woo everything.

Jin-il then defends that Yoo-min and Hae-yi broke a law and that they deserved to be punished. As Soo-il persisted to reveal the truth, Jin-il attacked him and stabbed him as Soo-il fought him off.

Cheer Up Episode 13 Musings

Revealing the struggles of Jin-il to be accepted at Theia proves that he dedicates his life to it. As a devoted Theia member, he despises anyone who breaks any law of Theia or commits an action that can “destroy” it.

His continuous blabber about him “protecting it” must mean protecting the reputation of Theia which was destroyed by disobedient members. However, his outrageous way of punishing Hae-yi and Yoo-min was out of line.

This creates a blurred line of whether he is mentally challenged or his devotion to Theia drives him to do desperate measures. Let’s then hope the upcoming episodes clear out any confusion about his character and reveal more of Jin-il’s agendas.

On the other hand, Jung-woo fights a lonely battle with the pilled-up emotions he has been holding. Would he take the courage to clear out any misunderstanding or would he continue to keep these heavy emotions to himself?
