Curtain Call

Curtain Call Episode 7 Highlights

“Just because you want to know if there is an afterlife doesn’t mean you should die early.”

Avoiding Hyo-jin, Jae-heon begins to act he has convulsions and lies unconscious. He understands why he has to avoid the crowd but wonders why Yoon-hee also feels the same level of anxiousness.

Checked by Chairwoman Ja’s doctor, Jae-heon’s sick act is busted, so Mr. Jeong tries to talk the doctor out of it. As agreed with Mr. Jeong, the doctor keeps it a secret and makes up an excuse for Jae-heon.

Greeting their guests, Chairwoman Ja explains that the banquet is her farewell party. She shocks everyone with her revelation of her remaining three months to live. She then requests them to send her off with a smile in her last time meeting with them all.

Visiting her grandchildren’s tables, Chairwoman Ja notices that Se-jun only brought business partners. On the other hand, she feels delighted to see Se-gyu’s friends since elementary.

At Se-yeon’s table, she greets Hyo-jin with a joke. Dong-jae greets her and insists that he will be marrying Se-yeon. Asking why she objected before, Chairwoman Ja lightly tells him that she sided with Se-yeon’s decision not to get married to him.

“Isn’t life some sort of play?”

Jae-heon begins to reflect on his difference with Moon-seong, having second thoughts on his contractual act. Dreaming about the time his mom left him, he wakes up to Chairwoman Ja calling him Moon-seong.

After the event, Jae-heon and Yoon-hee voice their intentions to stop their act as they begin to be eaten by their guilt. However, Mr. Jeong remains firm in the play he created since it’s for the chairwoman, who only recently expressed emotions. Assuring them, Mr. Jeong promises he will take responsibility if ever what they’re doing is wrong.

Resolving their swaying decision, Jae-heon becomes sure he wants to make the chairwoman laugh more in her remaining days. Organizing a surprise, Jae-heon and Yoon-hee wave at Chairwoman Ja from a boat in the ocean.

“Gluing together pieces of a broken glass won’t mend everything.”

Revising her will, Chairwoman Ja together with Attorney Kang announces that another inheritor is included in it. This then shakes Se-gyu’s and Se-jun’s peace.

Worrying about its legalities, Yoon-hee tells how they are not legally responsible since their employer should be the one to handle it given their contract duration and the period that the will takes effect.

Offered ten times the price of Ilseong partners, Dong-jae refuses to give his shares to Se-jun. Visiting his office, Se-jun tells Dong-jae that Se-yeon is no longer interested in marrying him. However, Dong-jae remains firm on not giving his shares to anyone other than Se-yeon while calling Nakwon Se-jun’s broken glass.

“I’m glad you want to protect your people, but you can’t lose your real family.”

Hearing that Se-yeon has been persuading other shareholders, Se-jun through Mr. Kim transfers Ms. Hong to their Jeju branch.

Moon-seong recalls how his father died by the shore, longing to meet Chairwoman Ja. On a boat, he receives an offer to be helped, so he requests something to prove his identity. At the gambling house, the private investigator that Mr. Jeong worked with becomes curious about who he is.

Telling her grandmother about Ms. Hong’s transfer, Se-yeon gets reminded by Chairwoman Ja not to lose family like how she lost a lot of people in the process of prioritizing the hotel.

Seeing Jae-heon’s calligraphy, Se-yeon uses Jae-heon for the hotel’s promotions. Making calligraphy, Hyo-jin walks up to him wondering if he also does part-time in Nakwon.

Curtain Call Episode 7 Musings

Jae-heon really thought quickly for the moment their act was nearly blown off. Being exposed to more people around Nakwon, he and Yoon-hee realize what a tough job it is despite their outstanding acting skills.

Perhaps when life comes nearer to its end, people realize the worth of the people precious to them. It was touching to see how Chairwoman Ja as a grandmother value not only her grandchildren but their friends as well.

Beginning to impart her life lessons, she emphasizes how the family is equally important as their business and the key people around it. Possibly feeling guilt from her past, Chairwoman Ja understands where Se-jun is coming from.

Moon-seong comes closer to his goal of reaching South Korea to meet his grandmother. With the meddling of the private investigator Mr. Jeong worked with, an impending mess could await Mr. Jeong, Jae-heon, and Yoon-hee.

A lie is a lie, and Jae-heon’s act becomes harder to keep as they get exposed to many people in Nakwon. More than the incoming people who recognize them, they also continue to bear the guilt of fooling a grandmother who is nearing death.
