Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 7 Highlights

Woo Young-woo has blended well as a rookie lawyer at Hanbada.

For their next case, they will deal with a road development project that would impact a quaint neighborhood on the outskirt of Seoul.

It is no easy case since previous rulings about the same scenario had sided with the contractor of the project. With the cheap value of the land, the residents that express disapproval can’t usually win the case.

“Sodeok-dong is not a neighborhood that can just be broken down and disappear like that.”

Representing Sodeok neighborhood are Choi Han-su and Jang Dong-gun. Mostly populated by elders, the residents face a predicament when a road is on the pipeline to be made which will seemingly divide the area in two.

Mr. Choi stakes his wealth for Hanbada to save their beautiful town and even brings the team for a quick tour. Aboard the vehicle, Young-woo remembered Min-woo’s thoughts about Su-yeon and Jun-ho, so she changes seats so the two can sit side by side.

Young-woo is oblivious to the caring glances Jun-ho gives her. He even covered her with his jacket when she slipped and her clothing got torn. Listening to Mr. Choi’s Sodeok-dong tour, Team Hanbada empathizes with the sentiments of the residents.

He shares how their place does not have much to offer, with a small resident count and cheap land. Still, he takes pride in the people living in the village.

“From what I see, I think Jun-ho likes you.”

Fired up from the spontaneous getaway, Lawyer Jung assigns his team to diligently research Haengbok-ro, the construction process and all in a clear chronological manner. It turns out the case has a pile of information to check on so he can only cheer up his juniors.

Young-woo, Su-yeon and Min-woo pull all-nighters to prepare for the case. Bringing additional documents, Jun-ho gave a worried look to Young-woo which Su-yeon noticed.

Su-yeon shares with Young-woo what she has been noticing. But speaking from experience when she asked Jun-ho directly, Young-woo tells her that Jun-ho didn’t give a direct answer.

Softly chiding Young-woo for the love trial she put Jun-ho into, Su-yeon walked away when Young-woo didn’t reply to her question if she likes Jun-ho. But she halts when Young-woo expresses her genuine thoughts about how it’s hard for someone to like her because of her autism.

Torn between the sincere care she has for Young-woo and the growing fondness she has for Jun-ho; Su-yeon scolds her for being weak-minded.

Helping her friend sort her feelings about Jun-ho Geu-rami walked Young-woo to process her feelings about Jun-ho so far through their moments together. She blushingly admits that there’s one instance when her heart fluttered and looks back on the sunset date at Nakjo village.

“Why is the “king” here herself?”

On the first trial day of Sodeok-dong highway construction, Team Hanbada gets a surprise when top lawyer Tae Su-mi arrived as the senior in charge of Taesan law firm.

True to her “king” nickname, Lawyer Tae proceeds with a convincing rebuttal to the plaintiffs’ lawsuit about how the alternative routes were not considered properly in Haengbok-ro. She even brought out the connotation that Mr. Choi and the complainants are after more compensation.

Appealing how the delay of the construction is just causing harm and waste of money; Lawyer Tae made a sound explanation.

At night, Young-woo’s father gives a worried look when he saw his daughter researching Tae Su-mi. She explains how the lawyer was amazing and hopes to be like her.

“The world doesn’t offer Young-woo chances. Even if she graduated summa cum laude from SNU law school and almost perfected the bar exam, they say they can’t accept people with autism.”

With the suspension of Haengbok-ro construction in place, the people of Sodeok-dong, unfortunately, can’t stop the people who were sent to begin the road building.

Lawyer Jung learns of the commotion in the village and huddles his team to think of an opportunity they can pursue. Young-woo finds one and explains the violation of the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment was done belatedly.

Finding the loophole they can work on, Lawyer Jung acknowledged Min-woo’s suggestion of a flashy presentation. But he opts to do an emotional one for their next appeal.

Meanwhile, Young-woo’s father visits Hanbada’s CEO Han Sun-young upon learning that his daughter meets Tae Su-mi. He affirms his daughter is Sumi’s child and asks CEO Han not to push further with her selfish interest. He thinks CEO Han is trying to mess up with Su-mi through Young-woo.

On his way out, Young-woo’s father bumps into Min-woo and his daughter. Hearing her father mention visiting someone he knows; Min-woo deduced Young-woo got into Hanbada through connections.

“Don’t act like you’re going to listen to her whale stories forever and then tell her to stop not even after a year. If you’re going to hurt her like that, don’t start anything at all. If you think your feelings are temporary, don’t be nice to her.”

Finding Jun-ho at the pantry, Su-yeon takes the opportunity to remind Jun-ho not to mislead her friend. She asserts that he should not be nice to Young-woo and then ghost her later.

Responding to how he never wants to confuse Young-woo; Su-yeon tells him that his actions have confused all of them and urges her to confess to Young-woo.

On the second trial date, Lawyer Jung proceeds with the violation they found on the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment. However, Tae Su-mi successfully shields the case by recognizing the belated assessment, but she assures that it was done before the impact of the plan would impact the established environment.

Looking bleak with the case, Young-woo gets her eureka moment and remembers a clause that invalidates Tae Su-mi’s claim. Getting the upper hand, Lawyer Jung follows up with their plan to bring the judges to an onsite verification.

After the trial, Su-yeon gives a glaring reminder to Jun-ho and volunteers Young-woo to sit in his car and head back to the office.

Mentioning his recent discovery about Young-woo’s connection to Hanbada, Min-woo whines about how they always have to give way to Young-woo because of her situation. Su-yeon tries to shake some reason to him to no avail.

“Lee Jun-ho, can I touch you just once? I want to check whether I like you or not.”

Shyly checking out the handsome man beside her, Young-woo meets Jun-ho’s eyes. He asks what’s wrong and she feigns nothing. After settling the case files in the office, they agree to head out.

Suddenly, Young-woo blurts if she can touch Jun-ho just once. She tells him she wants to confirm if she likes him or not.

Taking the lead, Jun-ho asks if that’s the only way for her to confirm it. He inches closer finally cornering her when she can’t move back further.

Closing her eyes, Young-woo waits for what Jun-ho would do next as he stares intently at her face.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episode 7 Musings

That was a well-played mischievous cliffhanger Extraordinary Attorney Woo! But why did you end the episode with that heartbreaking moment?

Another excellent scene for Park Eun Bin whose commitment to Young-woo far surpassed our expectations. Imagine the effort she did in that “let me feel the disappointments” scene with her father. Bringing her character’s emotional growth, Young-woo’s message to be left alone to confront the ugly side of life is loud and clear.

Nearing the middle point of the series, the charm of this episode is shedding light on the reality that while most of us are led to root for Young-woo; there are people like Min-woo who think otherwise, and we should respect those convictions.

In the preview of the 8th episode, it looks like Min-woo’s silent rage finally refuses to hesitate in hurting Young-woo. Hopefully, he stumbles soon that instead of griping or finding faults – the best way to prove his abilities is to focus on his own goals.

Thankfully, Su-yeon goes a rational route in developing her character. I bet we were all invisibly behind her back when she confronted Jun-ho about his emotions.

Sodeok-dong case rolls to the next episode and so are the hanging questions we need answers to. Is it a green light for Young-woo and Jun-ho?

Will Young-woo finally learn who her mother is?

Celebrate the colorful courtroom life of Woo Young-woo in Extraordinary Attorney Woo! International fans can watch the series on Netflix.
