IDOL: The Coup Episode 3 Key Moments

“It matters to me! Whatever it is, it gives me reason to live tomorrow!”

Elle confronts Jenna in the practice studio about their group’s disbandment, and Hyun-ji feels betrayed after hearing the confirmation. Hyun-ji becomes more frustrated after hearing that Stella knows all about it, but Stella justifies that by saying that the upcoming gig is important for her.

Elle talks with Du-ho, and leaves after hurting his feelings for his amateurish empathy. She walks into her old group, where her former colleague thanks her for leaving their group that is now successful.

After that, she barges into the office of CEO Ma to beg him to continue her contract instead of Jenna’s. She sings a song, but still gets a negative response.

“Even if it’s wretched hope, it’s still hope.”

Jenna tries to call Du-ho, but Elle tells her that he won’t answer as she hurt his feelings. Elle then continues to confront Jenna on why she did not say anything when CEO Ma asked her if he could sign Elle instead if she’s going to turn down the offer. Elle proceeds into asking Jenna a favor to tell CEO Ma to sign Elle instead.

Hyun-ji hears their conversation on the rooftop, and mocks Jenna for keeping the group in the dark. Jenna rejects Hyun-ji’s insults, saying that she is not her mom to put up with her drunk and violent behaviors.

“We all have the right to survive.”

Jenna finds Du-ho at their company rooftop, and Du-ho desperately tells Jenna about his plans on finding something to threaten CEO Ma with. CEO Cha overhears their conversation, and the two are caught in the office of the CEO.

Ji-han comes to absolve the issue, saying that he asked Du-ho a favor. He greets CEO Cha coldly and verbally expresses that he has no plans of renewing his contract if CEO Cha will be in the same company.

“Colleagues should help each other out.”

After getting kicked out of the housing, Jenna goes to the company, and Ji-han invites her to a studio his group uses. He asks her a favor to monitor the song of his upcoming unit. Ji-han decides on his own that Jenna would be staying over for several days, but Jenna walks out of the studio.

CEO Cha, who called Jenna about his fountain pen, arrives at Cotton Candy’s housing. He enters the house with Elle, and witnesses the mess that is happening inside the house.

“Being all torn to pieces, hating each other and bearing a grudge. I don’t think we should end like this.”

Rushing to the housing, Jenna handles drunk and violent Hyun-ji. She takes Hyun-ji to the shower to control her, and together they are soaked.

They go out of the bathroom, and Jenna goes on her knees, taking all the blame. They all cry hard with the happenings, and Jenna expresses her wishes of at least ending in good faith.

Seeing all those, CEO Cha leaves the housing, and relays to Jenna of holding onto the fountain pen until his return from his business trip.

“Just because they failed once, the company abandoned them.”

Following that night, Hyun-ji’s mood calms down, and reconciles with everyone. Without Elle, the four members of Cotton Candy wholeheartedly prepare for their gig in their company’s practice studio. The granted permission to use the studio appears to be influenced by Ji-han’s conversation with CEO Ma.

Meanwhile, Du-ho talks to CEO Ma about Cotton Candy, and reminds him of the days when he treasured them the most. He goes over how the CEO focused more on Mars after its success, and begs to give Cotton Candy a second chance.

Arriving at the festival, Cotton Candy members are soaked in the rain, and they wait for Du-ho who is driving despite the rain. CEO Ma talks to Jenna on the phone, inviting the group to eat dinner together after their gig.

However, he collapses into pain after speaking with an executive. Du-ho also meets an accident after increasing his speed while driving in the rain.

IDOL: The Coup Episode 3 Musings

When they said that the beginning of IDOL: The Coup will be filled with a lot of tears, they really mean it. This episode has a lot of heavy crying, especially the scene where Jenna handled Hyun-ji who was drunk and violent. Moreover, the end was also hinting at another heartache for Cotton Candy, as well as its viewers.

At the start of the episode, we could see where Stella’s heart is directed, believing the gig is still important despite the upcoming disbandment. Her innocence radiates the same with Du-ho, who’s dedicated to the group even though he is no longer assigned to them.

On the other hand, we have people like Elle and CEO Cha, who both appear to be cold and aloof. CEO Cha appears to have a history with Ji-han, and I hope it gets elaborated in the next episodes.

Other than heartbreaking moments, this episode has also served viewers with a lot of scenes filled with singing performances. These help in mellowing out the saddening events in the drama.

Cotton Candy members really appeared to be pitiful in this episode after being soaked in the rain. In addition to that, they are also about to lose people who were their first supporters when they were starting. Hopefully, even with the risk of losing them, they find light in their rocky journey.
