Ghost Doctor Opening Week Story

Professor Cha Young Min (Rain), who is not just a bright doctor but also the most gifted cardiothoracic surgeon that Eunsang University Medical Center has ever had, is up against his equal.

After performing his first solo surgery as an intern, Young Min gained notoriety. And now, he meets the insightful and intelligent Ko Seung Tak (Kim Bum).

Meanwhile, Seung Tak was regarded as legendary during an internship interview due to his response being the oddest of the other candidates. He is the sole respondent to the issue of why they desire to be doctors.

Unfavorably, Seung Tak’s response was that his mother and grandfather had instructed him to do so.

With both geniuses in charge of the hospital’s CS department and Young Min disliking Seung Tak for his obstinate attitude, he intends to remove him from his sight.

The Unprecedented Accident

Given Young Min’s exceptional ability as a cardiothoracic surgeon, the chairman was his to operate, who likewise has a low survival rate. Young Min continued with the surgery, which was successful.

However, after the procedure, he fled because he received a message from Jang Se Jin (Uee) requesting to meet with him.

Unfortunately, Young Min got into a car accident on his way back to the hospital after learning that the chairman was in critical condition.

After leaping from his body, Young Min discovered that he was not alive or dead, yet his soul may have roamed freely.

Due to Seung Tak’s incapacity to do operations, Young Min accidentally possesses his body to perform in his place and to save his life.

Cha Young Min’s Five Stages of Grief

Listening to the other doctors announcing his condition, Young Min learns that he is currently in a coma.

The other ghosts, believing he had accepted his fate, changed their minds since Young Min instantly went to the fourth stage, which is depression, due to his despondent demeanor.

Emerging from the Intensive Care Unit, one doctor softly laments that Young Min deserved what happened to him for being arrogant and self-proclaiming.

Consequently, Young Min vents his anger to the doctor even though he is not heard.

On the other hand, Oh Su Jeong (Son Na Eun) feels that Ko Seung Tak’s performance in the operating room is a little strange, as if he were possessed.

She approaches Seung Tak, inquiring about his well-being. He just responds that he is okay and nothing is going on with him. Whereas, Su Jeong believes that something is wrong with Seung Tak and hence continues to keep up with him for the time being.

Ghost Doctor Opening Week Musings

From its first two episodes, Ghost Doctor unmistakably establishes its humorous and articulate narrative, paired with excellent portrayals of the series’ four main protagonists, which makes the story worth leaning toward.

With its lighthearted narrative set in a fantasy-medical world, Ghost Doctor is truly for viewers who prefer to have little concern about the outcome of the story and the main characters.

However, as we have witnessed in the most recent episode of the series, Cha Young Min’s accident was no accident at all. It was because the villains planned it all along, which we would learn more about as the story progressed.

Admirably, Rain and Kim Bum’s adoring bromance duo makes it tough to turn away from watching and anticipating Ghost Doctor.
