Love In Contract

Love In Contract Episode 5 Highlights

Preparing the documents for their divorce, Ji-ho and Sang-eun encounter a concerning situation with Hae-jin.

It appears the man who attacked Sang-eun is a fanatic of hae-jin. Pressed by his uber-rich family to move back into the house, Hae-jin decides to announce Sang-eun as his bride-to-be.

“That’s how it started. The money I got from those who always blamed others, I spent on someone who always blames herself.”

In one of Ji-ho’s social skills sessions, he reveals how he had a highly-ambitious wife who gave him alimony. That is to make a statement that the marriage fallout was not her fault.

The money he got from people who can’t find fault in themselves he used for getting into a contract marriage with Sang-eun.

The psychologist explains that his interest in Sang-eun as a human means there’s an attraction. He might have not processed it yet, but she is already special to him.

He denies it strongly until he realizes that it could be true when he witnessed his new neighbor claiming he’s about to be the new husband of Sang-eun.

Furious about the ruckus Hae-jin caused, Sang-eun refuses Hae-jin’s request for a marriage contract. Even with his sincere plea of wanting to escape his hell-ish family; she disagrees.

To leave the exclusive residence, Hae-jin tips her to use a delivery motorcycle with accompanying incognito clothing.

“It just means that she might have become special to you.”

Fetching Madam Yoo from the detention center; Sang-eun brings her to her place temporarily until she can pay back the bail money.

After contemplating her options, being she does not have money, Sang-eun agrees to meet Hae-jin and signs a contract with him.

Bringing her expertise, Sang-eun leads Hae-jin to raise the public’s attention by openly dating.

Meanwhile, Ji-ho who can’t process that he is bothered by Sang-eun’s recent entanglement with Hae-jin subconsciously becomes sensitive at work, which his staff noticed.

“So, all this time is that how you judged my job and sympathize with me like that?”

On the day, they are set to have dinner, Ji-ho offers to extend the contract. But his poor EQ offends Sang-eun especially when she communicated how there have been confusing situations and mixed signals between them recently.

Debating in front of Ji-ho’s doorstep, Sang-eun opted not to meet him on the last day of their contract. Ji-ho who advertently hopes for her to appear was led to meet his counselor to discuss what’s been bothering him.

Explaining all the signs that would make someone special to a person matches what he has experienced with Sang-eun, he was also coached to follow his heart.

Meanwhile, Sang-eun can’t also explain her being downbeat. Instead of celebrating her favorite day, Sunday, she rants about her frustration with Ji-ho.

But when Gwang-nam offers to resolve it face-on, she pushes him to leave her room. Just then, she decides to go mountain hiking. When she opens the door of her place though, Ji-ho is there questioning why she did not arrive on the last day of their contract.

Looking straight into her eyes, he confessed how he waited for her.

Love In Contract Episode 5 Musings

Love In Contract episode 5 sealed an important message to not judge people when you know little about them. On that same note, making an effort to know someone and acknowledging a connection really requires bravery.

Once you have braved that realization that someone could be special, prolonging what you want to do with that person might miss the right timing, in case someone scoops in to take advantage when you were hesitating.

Mirroring the vagueness of love direction in the series is the purpose of Madam Yoo in the story. It’s strange that she’s put into a cohabitation setting with Sang-eun when she would most likely be the key for the female lead to fully emancipate herself from the pain restraining her to fully embrace happiness, and not settling to building dreams that meant to escape momentarily from deep-seated pains.

This usually manifests past the middle mark of the series, so it’s curious to see what’s the meaning behind it.

Love In Contract

Fortunately, Ji-ho’s rationality is helping his abysmal handling of emotions. We commend the process of how he realized what he needs to do to protect the blooming love he still doesn’t know to be existing.

We can foresee Hae-jin putting up a fight for Sang-eun’s heart. On that note, we feel the predictability of the story. Fortunately, the characters are mutable. Thus, making the combination exciting.

Inescapably, viewers can look forward to more exciting events that would unfurl in the series.
