Park Ji Hoon Persistently Pursues School Crush Lee Ruby In “Love Revolution” Episode 2

Youth Korean web drama Love Revolution continues its endearing mood – that I feel impatient waiting for its future episodes to air.

Park Ji Hoon, Lee Ruby, Kim Young Hoon and the rest of the young cast of Love Revolution are on a great start! I hope this won’t sway otherwise, because I’m really enjoying hanging out with them.

Delighting me with its comical relief and engrossing youth characters on its first serving, I was happy deciding to pick the series for my already full K-Drama coverage plate. I can’t wait for the light and feel-good youth stories to be featured in the story.

“Love is about timing.”

Feeling dejected at the thought of his first love letter going not to its recipient, but a bus fare box; Ju-young the optimistic young man refuses to dwell on it. He believes that love is about timing.

He also adorably believes that showering her with lollipops is an effective way of getting closer to her against Kyung-woo’s warning. The result? She decides not to give him her cellphone number.

Still, ever the positive, Ju-young is convinced that he is halfway to his love goal. *chuckles

At school, Ja-rim presents a load of lollipops to her friends Min-ji and Ah-ram. Not really a sweet tooth, she can’t empathize to how her friends beam at the gesture, and indirectly learns that Min-ji knows that Ju-young likes her.

“It’s not the right time.”

Surprised at how Min-ji (Jung Da Eun) knows of Ju-young, Ja-rim walks away. Min-ji looks for Ju-young and explains the conversation shared with the girls earlier.

Wanting to push his luck and confess, Min-ji tells him that the time is not right to do it. She further explains that her friend won’t commit to a relationship.

Giving him a fair warning that Ja-rim might ignore him, he is up to express his genuine feelings.

From doing sign language to avoid talking since Ja-rim doesn’t want to talk, he follows her around with a weird-sounding serenade. Armed with a guitar, he croons his cellphone number so Ja-rim can hear it because she does not want to give hers.

Almost reaching her tipping point, Ja-rim tells Kyung-woo to give her number to his friend. Ju-young insists he wants to get it from Ja-rim, but his friend sends it to stop his display of unwarranted affection.

“Be my girlfriend.”

Consulting his symptoms of love, the school doctor shoves him away and bumps on Ja-rim. About to utter a word, she tells him not. So he strikes another adorable love request: “be my girlfriend” – which Ja-rim responded with a glaring no.

Kyung-woo approaches his friend who is feeling blue. Ju-young mumbles how the rainy weather reflects his emotion.

Dropping a hint that Ja-rim did not bring an umbrella, Ju-young’s eyes brightened at the thought of sharing an umbrella together.

Troubling Kyung-woo in stealing Min-ji and Ah-ram’s (WJSN Dayoung) umbrellas, the three girls end up staring at the pouring rain wondering how they can go home.

“Do you want to share my umbrella?”

Through Kyung-woo’s lead, Ju-young walks to Ja-rim’s direction. Like a knight-in-a-striped-umbrella, he smoothly covers Ja-rim with an umbrella. Halfway to him asking if he wants to share it, Ja-rim zooms to face the pouring rain with her hoodie up.

Ju-young follows Ja-rim worrying about her getting a cold, but she still refuses to take the umbrella. Back at the school Min-ji and Ah-ram discover the umbrella thief and gave Kyung-woo a beating.

Ja-rim and Ju-young make the poor umbrella suffer while throwing it at each other.

“I’m leaving. I don’t care if you catch a cold or not.”

Unfortunately for Ja-rim, she lost her ID which bear her key card to her place. Ju-young offers to help her stay at his place first, but she disregards it.

Having enough of her cold remarks, Ju-young frustratingly leaves. But worried for the girl he likes getting sick, he comes back and gives her a towel and a jacket to fight the cold rainy weather.

She finally agrees to go to his place, just as the apartment door opens with a tenant coming out. Ju-young blocks the door from closing and coaxes Ja-rim to enter.

“I’m going to kill you if you catch cold.”

Just as he tucked his hoodie to go back to his house, he was dragged by Ja-rim inside and their gazes lock. She tells him to wait a little and return with a jacket, energy drink and umbrella.

Ordering him like her cute puppy, he obeyed her commands to wear her jacket and take the drink at her count of three.

Warmth and sweetness spread to Ji-young’s heart all the way to his smile. He does not know that the hoodie he smelled and thought to be Ja-rim’s is owned by another girl at Ja-rim’s house.

Episode 2 Peak Points & Musings

Love Revolution reminds me of the iconic rom-com film My Sassy Girl, in a school setting. Bringing life to the boy claiming his first love at all cute and absurd cost, Park Ji Hoon has wrapped me under his spell in supporting his young love quest. The series intention hopefully will just stay at being cute and sweet, and just gifting the audience with the spirited moments of being young.

For young and young at heart, the story might also tapped on your very own fond high school memories. Right now, I am just relishing the happy vibe pictured in this youth series.

Quickly moving, episode 2 already show that Ju-young’s hard work is yielding a positive result. (Hopefully, it really would.) I mentioned it on my first look feature, but I want to mention again how the narrative, albeit short felt so complete for the last two episodes. It makes me wonder why I have to go through over an hour in regular Korean dramas. *chuckles

Episode 3 hints Ju-young raising up the ante of his shameless “i like you” declarations and the school friends going to a retreat.

If you are up for some zippy ride, then take this amusing series!
