Monthly Magazine Home Episode 4 Key Moments

“If only I could renovate my life like how you renovate a place.”

In the previous episode, Young-won, and Ja-sung drank together. She got intoxicated and dared to ask him if he likes her? He replied that he just took pity on her that’s why he helped her and she got the wrong idea that he doesn’t like her.

Since then, Ja-sung started acting angry and throwing shady bankers at her at work. She feels sorry and humiliated. But she becomes more frustrated when she learns the truth about her apartment.

She overheard that someone committed suicide in that apartment. Because of this, she asks Ja-sung for half rent since he didn’t tell her about that story. Rather than getting a half rent, she got humiliated again and he even asks her to leave that place if she doesn’t want to stay there anymore because of that story.

Ja-sung feels a little guilty but his ego keeps getting in the way. He is confused if he cares for her or he likes her. When they went into another project, his anger escalated. He acts petty and focuses on finding her faults. Shin Gyeom didn’t like it and tells him to stop being mean and childish towards her.

In the end, Young-won gave up on those humiliations from him. She feels sorry for all of those things and tries to fix them. Young-won even posts the real story about that incident all night just to clear Ja-sung’s name and anger towards her. He found out about her effort and forgives her.

“You are my partner, If I am lonely and alone, you’re a great help.”

We know that Shin Gyeom and Young-won are story partners and he helps her with her savings. He did everything to help her. When Ja-Sung was angry with her, he protected her and explained that he was just upset with that misunderstanding.

However, Young-won found out about Shin Gyeom’s real identity. She learned that he is rich and he doesn’t need to save like her. She’s upset again. Ja-sung made it worst when he told her that maybe he did that because he took pity on her too like him.

This made her confuse with the kindness that Gyeom showed her. But he is really serious about helping her but he felt guilty that he lied to her.

“Housing is a problem for either both of us.”

Editor Ui-joo is the only one Young-won can rely on. She knew everything about her and helps her with her problems. She saves her when Ja-Sung gets angry with her. We found out that she lives in an expensive apartment. Her co-workers telling her to just move out of the expensive rent is a burden to her. But, she said that it was a comfortable home and she can’t afford to lose it.

Chief Go and Editor Sang-soon try to investigate why she doesn’t seem to care about money. But they didn’t find the answer. Young-won also finds out about this but she told her not to get worried and focus on her problems.

It turns out that Ui-joo has a rich guy to help her. It might be a bad idea for someone who does this to live a comfortable life and even if she doesn’t get away with some housing problems she still does it to live comfortably.

Monthly Magazine Home Episode 4 Musings

This episode is frustrating to the viewers, although it has some good light to it. We can’t ignore the fact that Ja-sung is mean towards Young-won in this episode. All of our expectations about their possible romance got faded in this episode. It truly put the viewers in an expectation-vs-reality scenario.

But then the story progression is good like how they revealed to Young-won about Shin Gyeom’s family status. It might be a sad scene since the viewers love their 1+1 convenience store tandem. However, it’s right for the main characters to know that truth as soon as possible so that the plot could continue.

Although this episode had a lot of sad and frustrating notes, it ends up in a good way. It gives Young-won the peace of mind that we wanted her to have. We hope for Shin Gyeom and Young-won to fix their friendship. We can tell that he did that little white lie for her own good not because he took pity on her.

This episode also gives us another story from one of the workers in Monthly Magazine Home. In the previous episode, we learn about Chief Go and Editor Sang-Soon’s stories. Now we learn about Editor Ui-Joo’s story. It is much more serious than the recent stories. Her problem is more on the personal side. Some of us either can or can’t empathize with her.

For the next episode, we expect more character development for Ja-Sung since the teasers hint about it. We knew that this series offers a lot to its viewers. The characters are funny. This series had some positive reviews from viewers too.

Will Ja-sung finally brave his emotions? Will Young-won and Gyeom patch up the disappointment?
