My roommate is a gumiho episode 5 and 6 recap

My Roommate is a Gumiho Episodes 5&6 Key Moments

“This is another careless relationship that will stay with me for the rest of my life.”

Dam is having a ‘little’ crush towards Woo- yeo. She is restless and acts awkward since that time when he recites a lovely line from an ancient book. He wants to drive her home. While he waits in the parking lot, Hye-sun showed up and asked him why is Dam different from the other girls he met. Woo yeo didn’t answer her directly.

Then he drives her home, but Dam wants to eat ramyun by the Han river. They stay there for a while. She teaches him how to use a texting app and even takes pictures of each other. Bothered about Hye-sun’s question earlier about the girl beside him, Woo-yeo thinks that Dam is not different and their moment will fade away soon.

“But you seem true to yourself, I liked your honesty.”

Meanwhile, Jae-jin is sulking because he thinks  Dam is being secretive to them. He is avoiding her in every possible way that she gets frustrated because of it. Woo-yeo notices how the misunderstanding takes a toll on her. He offers things to make her feel better.

In the end, he chooses to drink with her since he thinks drinking is the human way to relieve their frustrations. But, he got shocked witnessing her drinking habits and how much soju she could drink.

Finally, she speaks up that she doesn’t know what to do with Jae-jin. Woo-yeo said that she is an honest person so she could fix it. Because of tipsiness, she accidentally confesses her feeling for him, but he misunderstood it since he thinks she is referring to the steamed egg and not to him.

“He’s not someone I just meet but he is not also the one I’m seeing right now too. I might be just some misfortune for him.”

Lee Dam asks Woo Yeo how’s the progress going in finding a way to remove the marble. He got nervous about the question, apologizes to her, and makes up a lie. He still doesn’t want her to know the truth behind removing the marble. Because of this, he turns cold to her again.

Dam is once again confused. It leads her to think that all of these things, including her, are a misfortune for him. Then Jae-jin found out that Seon-woo made a bet with his friends to get Lee Dam. They caused a commotion in the hallway and she accidentally heard everything. Seon woo tries to explain his side to her. She listens to him but she said that she wishes him to never talk to her again.

“No matter what you think of me, for me, you are special and significant, so special that I just can’t give up.”

Jae-jin stops sulking and tells Lee Dam that he was a concern for her that is why. He wants to know everything but he understands that there some things she cannot tell and that would be fine. After that Lee dam goes home and Woo-yeon finds her outside. She bravely tells him that she will be honest with him. Confessing that he is special to her, she doesn’t care about what he thinks of her anymore.

“You were just like a passing shower but I’m still standing in the rain”

After her confession, Woo yeo tells her that he thinks of her as a special person too and thinks of her as a family to him since he doesn’t have one. It was a good reply but he added something upsetting. He told her she is like a ‘niece’ to him.

Lee Dam got upset and thinks that his reply to her confession was obviously rejected. Her friends think that way too when she told them about it. So, they made her go on a blind date to make her forget about it. She approves to go but Woo-yeo got torn if he would let her go on that date. He thinks that if he didn’t let her, she would be more upset so he lets her go.

“I’ve learned one thing from seeing numerous people, when you like something a lot, you’ll be led to that direction”

The blind date is horrible. Even if Hye-Sun somehow teaches Lee Dam for the date, the problem is not her instead it’s her date. The guy is a bit of a narcissist. Lee Dam is not comfortable with his attitude towards her and he even tries to humiliate her. Luckily, Woo-yeo was there too. He trips the guy before leaving with her.

Woo-yeo feels that Lee Dam got affected by what her blind date told her about her dream as a curator of the museum. So, he takes her to the museum and he notices how much she likes history. Woo-yeo tells her that the first time he saw her smile was when he showed her his artifacts in the basements. He also assures her to chase her dreams and never be affected by people’s opinions.

“Is it fair to keep her by my side because she makes my life interesting and less lonely?”

Lee Dam’s mother found out that she moves out to Woo-yeo’s house. She goes to where her daughter is and tells her not to lie again. Her mother is not angry with her, she is a little upset because she lied. Her mother loves them so much. She lets her children live the life they want for themselves and trust them enough to make life decisions. Woo-yeo realizes what’s it’s like to have a family and considers Lee Dam as his own.

Furthermore, his tragic backstory was revealed. Woo-yeo once fell in love with a lady during Joseon era. He put his marble onto her too. Just to keep her with him. They loved each other but she ends up dying because the marble is decreasing her energy. Although he didn’t tell her that he is a gumiho, she knew he was. She wished him to find another lover who will teach him a lot of things and will make him happy.

This memory came upon him again and thought that Dam will face the same tragic fate as his first love. But it will be more painful since he knew a lot of people who need her.

My Roommate Is A Gumiho Episodes 5 & 6 Musings

The backstory at the end makes everything clear why Woo-yeo is so protective yet cold towards Lee Dam. He doesn’t want the attachment because this feeling leads to losing his first love. But he is still protective of her because she brought a whole new emotion to his routine life. Although it can be a good thing, viewers can easily sympathize because we want him to love  Dam without him being chained in his past.

Another thing to notice in this episode is how firm Hye-sun and Woo-Yeo’s friendship is. Literally, their history goes a long way back. Sharing ups and downs made their friendship bond so strong. She is concerned about Woo Yeo’s relationship with Dam. She may act like she is always making him think twice about his decisions, but she just does not want him to be hurt.

Speaking of Hye-sun, we can feel that Hye-sun and Jae-jin will have a relationship since the drama is predictable yet still entertaining. We can’t wait for their progressive relationship to happen.

Another thing to point out is the hilarious confession of Dam to Woo-yeon. It was funny because the confession sounds like a food reference because they were eating when she did these confessions. Those were witty and funny scenes.

In the very last scene, we can see the co-worker of Woo-yeo is in danger. In previous episodes, we can see those scenes where the killer brutally murdered women in their 20s. The writers are hinting to us about a possible antagonist. Hye-sun investigating the incident with Woo-yeo suggest that maybe they are associated with the killer or something like that.

We can’t wait for the possible rising action that’s about to happen in this story. We can also expect more concrete romance development between Lee Dam and Woo-yeo’s relationship.
