Our Blooming Youth Episodes 13 and 14 Highlights

Last week in Our Blooming Youth, Jae-yi’s memories reveal Tae-gang as the messenger who met her family as well as the assassin who almost killed her.

Rushing to where Lee Hwan and Tae-gang are, she confronted him, and he also did not back down. Lee Hwan intervenes and mediates between the two.

“The day your family died; Tae-gang was at the East Palace. I am a witness to it.”

Lee Hwan listens to Jae-yi’s deductions but assures her that Tae-gang is innocent since he was with him on the day her family died and when the plum tree caught on fire.

In separate conversations the next day, Lee Hwan listens to Tae-gang’s worries about shielding a fugitive. He also brings Jae-yi to a place with a good view that he used to visit with his brother.

Conveying his emotions of how he hated becoming a prince because he could never be as good as his brother, he explains how his brother would have been a great king if he did not die early with his great dreams for Joseon.

He thanks Jae-yi for inspiring him to become a better prince aiming to carry on the dreams of his brother. With that, he asks her to depend and rely on her because he will protect her with everything he has.

Later, Tae-gang who needs books for a refresher is forced to talk to Jae-yi knowing her real identity. He also assures her that he did not do what she said he did. He makes a sound point that as she can’t prove her innocence, it’s the same for him feeling unfair about being branded the face she remembers to have killed her family.

“We’re not going with Tae-gang. Since you are there, that would be enough.”

About to deliver the clothes she repaired, Ga-ram spots Lady Jang who traumatized her master and sets off with a plan. She wore the clothes she was about to deliver and approached the lady.

Enumerating Myung-jin’s charms, she also pleads her not to proceed with the marriage. The lady who initially vehemently refused her master appears interested after hearing Ga-ram’s words.

Sung-on receives the news that Oh Man-sik, the man from the Office of Taoism had been traced. Reporting it to Lee Hwan, they agree to visit the man personally, without Tae-gang to not attract attention.

Lord Cha also gets hold of the information and before getting the confession from Man-sik, the latter was killed. Chasing after the archers, Lee Hwan got wounded while Jae-yi and Sung-on fell from the cliff.

Fortunately, they all survive their ordeals. Rushing to the east direction, Jae-yi and Sung-on find Lee Hwan and she came hurrying to embrace him seeing he’s safe.

They even caused trouble to Lord Cho who wanted to use the prince’s disappearance to make him look bad.

“Do you know how much I was worried that you might get hurt again?”

Waking up to a sunny morning, two unidentified men took Jae-yi. It was actually a loyalty test for rookie eunuchs. But it didn’t go as planned as the two captors were subdued easily by her.

Hearing from the eunuchs, Lee Hwan’s Court Lady Choi leaves a note about Jae-yi being wary of Tae-gang and her possession of a dagger.

While tending to Jae-yi’s wound, faint heart flutters are mutually felt by Jae-yi and Lee Hwan. The latter expressed how worried he becomes at the thought of her being hurt. Jae-yi, on the other hand, likes the idea that he is worried about her.

But Lee Hwan breaks the moment when he tells Jae-yi that she has to return to where she belongs. He tells her that he will make the preparations, accordingly.

Bravely questioning the crown prince if that’s what he really wants, Lee Hwan responds that she should have not come to him in the first place.

Jae-yi replies that even if she can turn back time, she would do the same. She tells him that it was the only decision in her life as a woman that she is proud of.

Declining his request, she also asserts that she will not go to Sung-on because she has feelings for someone else.

“If he’s not a eunuch or a lady, is he someone that lives outside the palace?”

Bothered by Jae-yi’s recent revelation that she’s in love with someone, clueless Lee Hwan is eager to know the identity of that person.

Even with Jae-yi’s clue that she always looks at him with loving eyes, he still can’t fathom who that person is. She describes him as an idiot so he urges her to stop liking the guy.

But she adorably argues that it is what she feels and to mind his own business. They visit Manyeondang where Myung-jin is on an extreme high after getting beaten by his mother.

Apparently, Ga-ram’s recent action made her master beyond happy knowing there was someone in love with him. Ga-ram also tells Jae-yi that she saw her bracelet bought by Lady Jang who is being paired with Myung-jin.

Over at the villains’ lair, Lord Cho learns about Manyeondang as the place frequented by Jae-yi and Lee Hwan. He also learns from the bounty hunters that Jae-yi’s servant is dressed up as a man and currently is the apprentice of Myung-jin at Manyeondang.

Quick to uptake, Lord Cho deduced the real identity of Jae-yi securing another trump card he can use for his evil intentions.

While happily gathered to eat food at the tavern, a man announces someone died. It was Lady Jang who recently acquired Jae-yi’s bracelet. Before the police arrives, Jae-yi took it and gave it to Lee Hwan.

Our Blooming Youth Episodes 13 and 14 Musings

Finally, the key players of the palace gossip trail are uncovered in the latest episodes of Our Blooming Youth.

Still, we need a decisive detail about the Queen’s real intention. It seems she is related to someone from Byeokcheon or could be raised from there as well. That explains why she knows the leader of the thieves. Her relationship with Tae-gang also remains a mystery.

As Lord Cho is a smart and lucky villain, we can look forward to his new set of creating havoc targeting the prince. Jae-yi’s bracelet appears to play a crucial role in the development of the story as it appears to be poisoned. That could explain why it was touched by Shim Young while Jae-yi was cooking soup for her family that unfortunate day.

Meanwhile, Lee Hwan’s upright and noble attitude towards the commoner would help him when he needed it the most. We can see his effort as a crown prince is commendable. If the Byeokcheon people have some sort of secret organization, he is their best bet for the revenge they want to exact on Lord Cho and his cohorts

Down with six episodes, this series easily becomes the cause and cure of worries for viewers avidly watching it. We don’t know how the writer can pull off a happy ending or hopefully, a kiss. Nonetheless, we are happy with the subtle romance crumbs we can get between Lee Hwan and Jae-yi.

Inevitably, there will be heartbreak on the horizon for Sung-on, but we hope he can be understanding to see how deep the bond between his best friend and his betrothed is.

Romance seems to be impossible for our favorite crown prince and eunuch right now, especially as both of them have pre-arranged marriages already. Thus, the closure of this drama raises curiosity about how their tangled mystery will be decrypted.

Impressively, we love how the two can wrap their words with so much love when they converse even without saying the exact loving words.

Witness how Lee Hwan and Jae-yi uncover the secrets and fight against their enemies in Our Blooming Youth every Monday and Tuesday on tvN.
