Poong the Joseon Psychiatrist

Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist 2 Episodes 3&4 Highlights

“This inspection will determine your qualifications as a local clinic and allocate your budget and allowance accordingly. Hence, you are to fully cooperate with the inspection. Until the inspection is completed, Gyesoo Clinic is closed indefinitely.”

Threatened by the Gyesoo Clinic and Physician Yoo, the Medical Office plans to permanently prevent them from returning to Hanyang. Even though the King mentioned that he will assist Gyesoo Clinic with his privy purse, the Medical Office persuaded him to allow them to assess the clinic.

Not later when Prince Seo-yi arrived at Sorak Village, Physician, and Inspector Kang-il immediately began his investigation. Despite the number of patients waiting, he instructed the clinic to be closed and the patients were forced to go home.

Inspector Kang-il meticulously investigated the clinic, especially the Gyesoo Family which he sees as a ‘quack.’ He questions why Jang-gun, who is only a child, handles medical ingredients.

Furthermore, brings up Physician Gye’s unethical practice — intoxicated while treating his patients. Due to this, Inspector Kang-il gives them low assessments.

However, the Gyesoo Family was not shaken by the ongoing investigation and was confident about their operations. Since many of the patients still pleaded to be treated, Physician Gye continues treating them in a different location.

“Does a physician who cannot save a patient deserve to be a physician? Can you truly call yourself a physician?”

While the others treat the patients outside the clinic, Physician Yoo and Lady Eun-woo are being investigated as well. Different from his harsh assessment of others, Inspector Jeon defended and speak for Lady Eun-woo about her pretending to be a physician.

After evaluating Physician Gye and the others, Inspector Jeon becomes more intimidating as he runs through Physician Yoo’s patients’ records. Even though most of his patients’ records are clear, a certain patient who suffers from a severe skin condition caught his attention.

Inspector Jeon then immediately summons the patient, Lee So-cheon, and asked her how Physician Yoo treated her. Furthermore, he asks questions that can ascertain that Physician Yoo can be blamed for the worsening of her illness.

Concluding that So-cheol’s condition is not a skin condition, Physician Yoo prescribes her another ‘medicine’ that can clear her mind and control her emotions. This sounds ridiculous and Inspector Jeon called it a nonsensical diagnosis.

Lady Eun-woo and Physician Yoo try to defend their diagnosis, but as soon as the atmosphere became tenser, So-cheol began to have a seizure. Inspector Jeon saw that Physician Yoo can’t administer acupuncture, which he uses against him.

“I will help So-cheon so she can recover on her own. If I fail, will give up everything.”

After this unexpected incident, So-cheol quickly recovers. However, she suddenly disappeared and was found near a river.

Also, a suicide note was found but luckily, So-cheol was saved by Physician Yoo once again. This made Physician Yoo’s reputation as a physician adds a more negative impression on him.

As Inspector Jeon questions his ability as a physician more, Physician Yoo promises to treat and find the root cause of So-cheol’s illness. During So-cheol’s recovery, Physician Yoo and Lady Eun-woo investigate the paper mill factory she is working at.

While working at the factory, So-cheol writes romantic novels, which become a hit in Sorak Village. As a reader of her books, Lady Eun-woo noticed something strange with So-cheol’s suicide note.

Her speculation was then right after So-cheol finally opens up that other girls from the factory physically and mentally abuse her. Her suicide note was also fabricated and was from one of her unpublished novels.

To catch her perpetrators, the Gyesoo Family executed a storytelling event and picked the bully, Jung-soon, to reenact what she did to So-cheol. The story pressured her and made her reactions prove that the villain in the story was her.

So-cheol finally dared to speak and confessed in front of everyone that Jung-soon and the others fabricated her suicide. Concurrently, Inspector Jeon was watching which gives him no choice but to pass the assessment of Gyesoo Clinic.

As soon as this news reached Hanyang, the Gyesoo Clinic is now officially affiliated with the Royal Palace.

Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist 2 Episodes 3&4 Musings

The recent episodes of Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist 2 showed how Physician Yoo Se-poong is passionate about helping people with disabilities. Furthermore, the appearance of Inspector Jeon in his life tested him and helped him realize his purpose despite his trauma.

With how Inspector Jeon displayed grudges and hate towards Physician Yoo must have a hidden history. Even though he has set eyes on Lady Eun-woo, his primary motive for going to Sorak Village is Physician Yoo.

Similar to the character of Shin-woo, viewers have yet to discover whether Inspector Jeon is an enemy or not.

On the other hand, the romantic tension between Poong, Lady Eun-woo, and Princess Seo-yi escalates since the Princess’ arrival. It is unique to see that female characters chase their love interest.

So far, we got to see more of Princess Seo-yi’s personality which breaks the standards of women and royal protocols. Now that, Princess Seo-yi reveals what she wants in return for helping Lady Eun-woo, let’s hope that Eun-woo fights for Poong as well.
