Through Miracle Investment, Do-jun attempts to acquire Ahjin Motors during the IMF crisis to save his family in his past life. He still fails to save his mother, but successfully puts Chang-je as mayor of Seoul, which irks Chairman Jin.

Reborn Rich Episodes 5 and 6 Highlights

“Why are you risking so much money on something so futile?”

The IMF crisis hits the country, and many companies struggle. Do-jun now signs as the COO of Miracle Investment, and the first company he intends to acquire is Ahjin Motors which has a lot of debt.

Chairman Jin also wants to acquire Ahjin Motors, but he learns that Soonyang does not have enough funds for it since its resources were exhausted in the acquisition of Hando Steel.

Moving forward with their plans, Mr. Oh meets with Chairman Song of Ahjin Motors while the union protests outside. In their deal, Mr. Oh promises the buyout of employees and managerial rights. This news then reaches Chairman Jin.

Meanwhile, Seong-jun comes back to Korea, and hears about his arranged marriage to Mo Hyeon-min of Hyunsung Daily. Seong-jun finds her interesting, but Do-jun captures Hyeon-min’s interest after their encounter at the elevator.

“This lifetime isn’t an opportunity for me. It’s a miracle.”

Clarifying his position to his grandfather, Do-jun tells Chairman Jin that he no longer associates with Mr. Oh for having different views.

Supposed to feature the participation of Soonyang’s women in the gold collection initiative, Hyunsung Daily’s front page sways the public opinion on Miracle Investment’s plans to acquire Ahjin Motors. 

Seeing that news, Do-jun dumps his plans with Min-yeong. He falls into an argument with Mr. Oh because of their differences in motives. 

While he wishes to save Ahjin’s employees, Mr. Oh cares about his position as a company hunter. Keeping silent about his dire reason, Do-jun recalls how his mother died after seeing his father beaten for being in the labor union.

Reconciling their differences, Mr. Oh of Miracle Investment steps in to support Soonyang in acquiring Ahjin Motors, promising it to become a global top-ten automobile company.

In exchange for providing funds to pay Ahjin Motors’ debts, Chairman Jin fulfills the condition of Miracle Investment of retaining Ahjin’s employees. Rest assured with the recent events, Do-jun gladly buys the building of his mom’s restaurant, but gets taken aback to see his mother’s funeral.

“In the end, what moves money is authority.”

Do-jun searches for the reason why his mother took her own life. He considers whether it was because of her inability to support Hyeon-woo’s university plans. However, he sees Soonyang Life Science in her archives.

Min-yeong confronts Do-jun, and he apologizes to her, telling her that he doesn’t deserve her. 

Studying Soonyang Life Science, Do-jun learns how the company was liquidated. Additionally, he discovers that Gnaynoos, which was involved in the company, is Soonyang’s slush fund.

Chairman Jin shows no remorse for what happened in Soonyang Life Science, and Do-jun sees the protesters outside, imagining how disheartened his mother was.

Seong-jun enters Soonyang Constructions which stirs the interest of Dong-ki and Hwa-young. At dinner, Chang-je angers Chairman Jin for admitting his plans for politics. Young-ki, who was supposed to support him, sides with the chairman.

“Why is it that the powerless citizens are the only ones suffering? That is not justice.”

Chairman Jin assigns Seong-jun to take part in bidding for the construction of the new city on Nanji island, which used to be a landfill. Also having a similar idea, Do-jun sets Miracle’s next investment goal of building a digital media city, certain that Korean entertainment in the future could go global.

Explaining himself to his father, Seong-jun tells Young-ki of his plans of using Soonyang Construction to secure their slush fund. 

Mr. Oh persuades Chang-je and Hwa-young in partnering with Miracle Investment for his mayoral race. Through both overt and covert support of Do-jun, Chang-je becomes successful in his campaign.

Chang-je gets elected as mayor of Seoul, and Soonyang Construction loses to Jaea Construction in the bid for the new city. 

Looking for who’s backing Chang-je, Chairman Jin assumes and probes Miracle Investment through the prosecution. Asking to meet the majority shareholder, Chairman Jin sees Do-jun revealing himself as the man behind Miracle.

Reborn Rich Episodes 5 and 6 Musings

Following the track of historical events infused in the plot’s timeline, the drama possesses an engaging flow. It was as if the story timeline made sure that viewers could pick up some learnings about economics.

Nothing changes for Do-jun’s mother despite his efforts to change past events. Though for another cause, his mother’s death is again a tragedy of the powerless being trampled by a conglomerate.

Both Min-yeong and Hyeon-min show interest in Do-jun. Out of the two, he appears to have sincerity for Min-yeong. However, as far as Soonyang exists, love is far from his list of priorities.

Now that he has already revealed himself to his grandfather Chairman Jin, Do-jun is ought to reconstruct his plans. Given that the drama has three episodes a week, the plot’s progress is faster.

Tables have already been turning for Soonyang ever since Hyeon-woo lived as Do-jun. Facing up against Chairman Jin, Soonyang’s youngest member is truly someone not to be underestimated.
