Taxi Driver 2 Episode 7 and 8 Highlights

Previously, Ha-joon, the new taxi driver is revealed to be living a double life. While he appears to be a regular friendly guy, his other life looks like a formidable and ruthless investor.

Do-ki and Team Rainbow tackle a case involving a pseudo-religion. A woman named Lee Jin-hee is desperate to bring out her sister Jin-sun who is having medical treatment for leukemia.

“No one believes that they are a member of a cult.”

She was approached by a member of Sunbaek Church and gets brainwashed to not proceed with her medical care. Instead, she gave the church free reign to heal her with fake faith healing.

Not getting any help from the police, Jin-hee sought help from Team Rainbow’s revenge desk. They trace the leader of Sunbaek Church to be a swindler and set forth to infiltrate the church.

Meanwhile, Ha-joon is revealed to be a member of an organization that runs various fraud activities and scams. The case in Vietnam and, the elderly swindling case, and even the real estate scheme are run by the organization to which he belongs. Thus, he is keen to know the reason why they are doing those things to help people.

Proceeding to help Jin-hee, honest-looking Jin-eon is tasked to enter the cult following posing as someone who is ill. They also devise situations to trigger Ok Ju-man, the leader of the cult following, to suffer hallucinations.

From there, he is led to Monk Do-ki who planted seeds of doubts in Ju-man previously. Ju-man seeks his help when he experienced a series of haunting carried out by Team Rainbow.

Giving a dose of his own medicine, Ju-man fell into the nonsensical belief that Monk Do-ki can dispel the ghost haunting him.

Taxi Driver 2 Episode 7 and 8 Musings

Illuminating the disheartening deception of money-making scams disguised as pseudo-religion patronage, the recent episodes of Taxi Driver 2 did not hold back in presenting how evil these acts are point-blank.

Unfortunately, in this modern age, these ludicrous cult followings still exist. The series did a great job on the disappointing aftermath endured by the family members of these people who had been duped. Alongside the extent of what they can give up like their own insurance or borrowing money to provide support to the bogus devotion, they sadly yielded to.

Do-ki’s parting words on how religion offers strength and comfort underline the message that humans with weak mental fortitude can easily yield to convincing pitches that can offer false hope.

Much like what was pictured in the 4th week of Taxi Driver 2, we should be vigilant to know if the “faith” being offered to us is true. And it’s not just about religion per se. Any idea or thing marketed to people should always be assessed thoroughly.

Taxi Driver 2

In the story highlighted, we saw how the people who relented to stay at the cult following were brainwashed to separate themselves from their families. Those who are sick are also convinced not to seek medical help. These are life-risking situations brought upon by the sad and realistic truth that people can blindly believe in something that promises a miraculous relief.

Sadly, the easy targets of sham-religion scammers are the weak, hopeless, and sick people who are prone to desperately succumbing to any possible solution to their problems.

This week also featured the whole team in action physically doing their respective roles to trap the villain. It was a refreshing watch, hopefully, we get to see more in future episodes.

The reason why Ha-joon sneaked into Mr. Jang’s taxi service company is also further detailed. Accordingly, it is shaping to be the culminating direction of the series. Ha-joon intends to take down Team Rainbow so his business activities can flourish without trouble.
