The Law Cafe Episode 4 Highlights

“It felt more like she was scared of me. That’s why I wasn’t really scared.”

Hearing that there were no CCTVs and that the floor was covered in blood with no footprints, Jung-ho blows up at the police handling the case. Shocked with what happened, Jung-ho lets Yu-ri stay over.

Eun-gang walks to the vacant place behind the broken wall in the cafe, and finds a stuffed toy.

Storming into the cafe, Jung-ho protests at Yu-ri for going into the cafe instead of resting. Questioning his meddling, Jung-ho claims that they’re like family. She then challenged Jung-ho to sleep in the same bed under the same blanket.

Making sure Yu-ri is safe, Yu-ri stays with her mom and her stepdad whom she claims to be awkward to be with. Seeing that her mom still has her father’s ring, Yu-ri hugs her mom.

At the police station, the officer states his position on the incident in the cafe, interpreting it as a warning.

President Lee hears from his assistant who killed Nurungi that Yu-ri is the daughter of the subcontractor’s chief in one of their factories involved in a fire incident.

Cussing full of energy, Yu-ri wishes to believe she is delusional that Dohan was the perpetrator of the recent incident. Jung-ho did not respond to her remark.

Instead, he offers to send her to her mom, but she no longer stays there. Worried for Yu-ri, Jung-ho admits that he does not want to leave Yu-ri alone.

“If you hurt someone in any way, it’s all considered assault.”

Taking a walk together, Yu-ri opens up to Woo-jin about the ghost she was not that much afraid of on the night of the incident. Scared of the ghost story, Woo-jin offers to introduce a shaman to Yu-ri.

Jung-ho stays over Yu-ri’s, and he sees his father becoming the chief prosecutor on television. They get into an argument after Yu-ri persuades him to visit his parents.

Chipping her toenail, Jung-ho carries Yu-ri. Swayed by his kindness, Yu-ri gets teased by Jung-ho who pledges to continue being nice to her.

A lady with a daughter is brought to the law cafe, and the mother complains about the man next door being a stalker. Claiming to be undergoing a divorce, she requests a restraining order from the man.

Entering the cafe, Jung-ho talks about the faults in the tale read by the two girls. Speaking about abuse and violence, Ji A, the other little girl appears to be disturbed.

Business operations in the cafe go back to normal with clients waiting for drinks and legal advice. Ladies sell snacks in the cafe, and agree to give Yu-ri 15% of their profit.

“But the thing is, your family is only a part of your life. It’s not your everything.”

Spotting the alleged stalker, Yu-ri interrogates the man who claims to have seen another child in the woman’s unit.

Consequently, she barges into the police station. Yu-ri reports that she deduced that the roaming child under the staircase of the vacant unit next to her was being abused. Pointing out the signs of maltreatment, she and Jung-ho convince the police to visit the woman’s house.

Looking for the other child Soo A, the woman wails on the floor saying that Soo A has been missing for two days. Denying it was abuse, the woman claims she was merely scolding her own child for stealing her money.

Finding a temporary shelter for Ji A, the police call her father, and the woman swings a knife with her child held hostage.

About to attack Yu-ri, Jung-ho’s arm gets slashed by the knife. After receiving care in the hospital, he asks for help from his old colleague in the prosecution.

Appearing at the agreed time, Jung-ho is set up to meet his father. Refusing to have lunch together, Jung-ho tells his father he is doing nothing since he doesn’t want to use anything he received from him.

“Don’t let yourself live in misery for the rest of your life because of fools who don’t know the difference between love and abuse.”

Jung-ho learns that Ji A and Soo A had foster parents before the indictment on their abusive mother was suspended.

Talking with Yu-ri, Ji A speaks about her knowledge of Soo A’s whereabouts, suggesting their uncle’s place who provided them foster care.

Remembering her wallet being lost, Yu-ri searches where her card was last used, including the area of the foster family. However, she and Jung-ho hear that the family has already moved.

Coming back to the cafe, Yu-ri sees Soo A and persuades the child to come with her.

Narrating Soo A’s experiences, Jung-ho tells how the child was leashed and escaped through the balcony, staying in the vacant unit next to the cafe.

President Lee gets scolded by his father for the news about the countless incidents in the company. Disliking how the doctor referred to Lee Pyun-woong as his son, President Lee’s father splashes water on his child.

Arriving at the police station, Soo A’s foster family embraces her.  Concluding the case, Yu-ri hugs Jung-ho, rejecting his label of being family. Moved by the situation, the two share a passionate kiss.

The Law Cafe Episode 4 Musings

Radiating generosity in her heart, Yu-ri may appear to be hot-tempered, but her openness to new ideas was exemplified when she struck a deal with the neighborhood ladies.

Acknowledging what her cafe lacks, Yu-ri’s business model, like any other business, ensures itself to flourish for a long time by being open to growth.

Tackling issues about family and the love parents give to their children, this episode has shown great consideration for the heavy topic it is highlighting.

At first, Yu-ri was pushing Jung-ho to meet his parents, but Jung-ho told her that not all families are like hers. The meaningful words she said at the end emphasize that leaving is an option even for close relations such as families.

Considering that Yu-ri and Jung-ho have known each other for a long time like family, it’s great that Yu-ri is direct with her intentions compared to Jung-ho.

For next week’s episodes, we shall await what case will Yu-ri’s cafe handle and what actions would Jung-ho take after their kiss.
