As Ba Woo (Jung Il Woo) hides his identity from domineering officials, he engages in illegal activities to survive. He and his trusted friend, Chun Bae (Lee Joon Hyuk), also earn money by kidnapping widowed women and remarrying them with widowed men.

Bossam: Steal The Fate Series Peak Points *Spoilers Alert

A Well-Narrated Historical Romance

From Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, Mr. Queen, Orange Marmalade, and more, we know that historical Korean dramas offer a unique and intense narrative. But one thing that made them similar is a painful love story that made us cry and broke our hearts.

On the other hand, Bossam: Steal The Fate offers another artistic historical series that leaves heavy emotions to complete the year. The series balanced on how they tell painful forms of love while being a platform to communicate societal issues of the marginalized.

Even though the development of the story and characters are simple, Bossam: Steal The Fate has a hidden charm that hooked us and made the series more magical.

Impressively, watching it feels like we are reading a tale from a romance novel that comes alive through commendable portrayals of the cast.

Kwon Yu Ri

Known for her charisma and alluring character on stage, Yu Ri proves that she can also conquer the stage of acting with her performance as Princess Hwa In. We witness how deserving and unparalleled her transformation as a delicate and fragile character.

Furthermore, we can’t also think of other actresses to perform the role because of her perfect embodiment of Princess Hwa In. Despite Hwa In’s weak character, Yu Ri incorporated a different charm that made her a powerful heroine.

Bossam: Steal The Fate Series Musings

Leaving us with a bittersweet story, Bossam: Steal The Fate teaches heartfelt and valuable stories to carry as we welcome a new year. The series also proves that love drives us to do the unthinkable and helps us to endure pain.

Ba Woo and Hwa In’s story showed that there is a happy ending despite one’s adversities in life. Hwa In also taught us that contentment and happiness don’t come from material things but from learning to love ourselves and others.

Furthermore, Lee Dae Yeop’s story also left a scar in our hearts after he was slain by the man he treated as his father. Despite his courage to change his fate and fight for Hwa In, he reminds us when to stop, accept, and be happy with others’ happiness.

Surely, his character leaves an imprint for his kindness and love to others regardless of loving the woman his father wants to slay. Even though his one-sided love story is common with second lead roles, Dae Yeop offers a striking narrative that differs from others.

On the other hand, the series also teaches us to know more about the culture of Korea. The series navigated the practice of Bossam revealing the oppressed community in the Joseon era. Notably, it also mirrors prevalent problems in today’s society.

Piloting on coveting the seat of the King, Bossam: Steal The Fate ruminates on how the people hold the power to put the right leader to govern one’s country. Also teaching us lessons about love, this hidden gem leaves a roller coaster of emotions, deserving to be on our binge-watch list.
