Ghost Doctor Finale Week Recap

Considering Professor Cha’s declining health, the other professors devised a method to operate on him through a bypass. However, the operation comes with a price: in order for Young Min to regain consciousness, he will never be a competent surgeon again due to his weak hands.

Following that, Young Min decides to give Ahn Tae Hyun another chance to redeem himself, as no surgeons are willing to operate on Professor Cha’s condition. He selects him to help with the surgery, with Young Min taking the lead.

Recalling their conversation, Seung Tak understands Young Min’s choice since he is both the patient and the doctor. Young Min believes that the most important thing in the patient’s life is his hands. In the operating room, Young Min astounds everyone when he is to be treated with a median sternotomy rather than a bypass.

Subsequently, despite his lack of coordination during surgery, Young Min made it through and entrusted Seung Tak with closing him up after witnessing him diligently practicing his sutures.

After the surgery went well, Young Min awakens, pretending not to recall anything from the previous three months. Surprisingly, he defied the fate of humans who are unable to recall previous lives. Fortunately, Young Min retains his memory, which aids in settling all the unresolved crimes during his time as a ghost.

A Priceless Lesson in a Doctor’s Life

Besides that, with the tiny bit of honesty remaining, Dr. Ahn surrenders to the authorities, presenting proof of their crimes, and the series’ villains are eventually captured for their horrific atrocities.

Tes, the veteran ghost doctor, departs peacefully as his work in the human world is finally over. Interns became doctors, ill-fated relationships were patched up, and all was well in the living realm.

Seung Tak continues to learn from his excellent professor on how to be a practical, skilled surgeon, and Young Min realizes that as much as he values his own life, every life in the world is precious.

Ghost Doctor Quick Plot Recap

Cha Young Min (Rain) is a heartless professor who is more concerned with his skills than with patients in hopeless situations. He was later involved in an unprecedented accident that turned him into a coma ghost.

Meanwhile, Ko Seung Tak (Kim Bum), a first-year resident who has seen ghosts since he was a child, strikes a deal with Young Min to save the patients’ lives and bring justice to those who committed misdeeds that took away an innocent life and a life barely hanging on a thread.

Ghost Doctor Series Peak Points

Young Min’s Outward Appearance As A Viper But Is Actually A Softie

Professor Cha epitomizes the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover,” since he may appear harsh and cruel on the outside, but he is actually rather good on the inside. One is how he progressively transforms his hatred for Seung Tak into brotherly compassion, which shows as he patiently teaches Seung Tak the fundamental skills necessary to become a doctor.

Subsequently, his perspective on his neglected patients changed. Throughout the entirety of the series, Young Min makes every effort to save and reawaken people who have fallen into a coma because of him. He even discreetly checked on one of his patients, despite the fact that he was a lost cause.

Lastly, Chief Ban confesses that Young Min had trusted Dr. Ahn and referred him to Han Seung Won. He argues that Seung Won would promote Ahn Tae Hyun regardless of his lack of credible qualifications.

The Characterization of Ko Seung Tak

Initially afraid of a doctor’s practical tasks, it was a heartwarming moment as we saw how Seung Tak had grown to learn and conquer his fear. Due to his wish to help the patients regardless of his lack of abilities, he eventually recognized that he should allow Young Min to teach him the basics.

Likewise, he showed attentive listening and practicing for each lesson from Young Min. He was even able to have bravery and put his learning into action in the on-the-spot OR case in which Young Min believed in him that he could do it, and he did.

Humans Defying and Changing Their Destined Fates

During his time living as a coma ghost, Young Min witnessed how unjust the divinities’ laws for maintaining balance in the human and spirit realms were. One rule is that when a soul returns to a human body, it will have no memory of its previous existence. In Young Min’s case, though, he recalls everything he has done over the last three months.

On the other hand, when Seung Tak did not run away from a flatlined patient in the ER, and the patient’s ghost and him met eye to eye. This shows his determination to not give up on the patient and Seung Tak was able to perform a miracle and save him.

This illustration, most clearly implies that a human being’s deepest yearning can alter their own fate. That is what occurred to Seung Tak and Young-min; they both had a desire. They resisted their foreordained destiny, and this series highlighted how it is acceptable to break the rules of life and death even though it is not the will of the gods.

Ghost Doctor Series Musings

Ghost Doctor has established a consistent narrative flow since its premise. Although certain parts were a bit bleak, it’s incredible how they managed to keep the drama gripping with their twists and turns, as well as their lively characters.

Moreover, Rain and Kim Bum’s dotting bromance is definitely one of the most anticipated in the series. By portraying their characters so splendidly, they have won the hearts of every spectator, from their first negative impressions of one another to their eventual reliance and trust in one another, all of whom share the common objective and desire of saving the patients’ lives.

Also notable in the series are the female leads. Uee and Son Na Eun’s performances are to be commended since they exceptionally embraced the weight of their roles.

Besides that, this series not only delivered a well-written story but also conveyed valuable lessons about the various patients’ and doctors’ experiences inside the hospital, as well as how doctors strive to accomplish their duties to the best of their abilities.

Remarkably, even doctors who believe in scientific findings believe in miracles occurring in hopeless situations. We should, too, when we face those circumstances in our lives, learn to trust and not lose hope because miracles do exist for those who genuinely have faith.
