K-Drama Review: “My Mister” Motivates With Messages On Personal Healing and Seeking Human Warmth

With its gloomy mood and straightforward narrative, My Mister plows a deep trench to allow its resonating message of finding strength and peace by enabling yourself to trust someone.

My Mister has introduced characters who are living up to the weight of life realities. Through their shared pains, they find out the meaning of life by mutual healing.

The series had pictured ordinary flawed characters, making the viewers able to relate to the pains as if they are their own.

Narrated from the perspective of a young woman who has long given up on the miserable life she had to live, My Mister takes you to a breathtaking acceptance of how happiness never amounts to the level of success, fame and money, but by living life to the fullest.

My Mister Series Highlights and Musings

You can still be happy despite your failures.

No one has lived a life without moments of sadness and disappointment. My Mister bravely presents us with flawed characters who have reached rock bottoms of their existence, but they stay afloat until they each claim their own peace. Park brothers, who have amazed us with their brotherhood, each represent marriage, career, and personal failures that most people can relate to.

The relationships you build with someone are life blessings.

Lee Ji Eun’s portrayal of a young woman, who inherited her mother’s debts and was cruelly mistreated by the son of the loan shark she accidentally killed out of self-defense, eases the viewers’ hearts, even with her despondent life story. How she opens up to the first adult who showed her genuine care encourages her to at least strive for the most common dream a typical person has – to be happy.

Lee Sun Kyun, who portrayed the role of a manager that got entangled with the company’s power-play, is given jabs at life setbacks. Amidst his personal heartaches, he still generously gives pieces of his strength to people who need it. The beautiful relationship that happened between Ji An and Dong Hoon attests to how people we came across are meant to leave a significant impact on our lives.

My Mister

No matter what kind of family you have, they always have your back.

My Mister lets us walk to a plethora of families that are blood or bond-related. The Park brothers delight us with their incomparable sibling attachment, while Ji An’s love for her grandmother makes us pray for her fictional character’s fate to be emancipated of her anguish-filled life.

Both families sketch how having silent and loud family encouragement matters in dealing with disheartening setbacks because it pushes us to endure.

My Mister has provided burrowing insights on the harsh realities of what being an adult entail. It teaches direct and implied lessons that would make you stop to contemplate each episode – a truly amazing drama gift despite its emotional premise. So do make sure to add it to your watchlist if you haven’t!
