After having to give up his long-held passion for taekwondo due to an injury, Gong Ki-joon (Kim Yo Han) develops an interest in carpentry, despite the fact that he initially lacks the ability to work with wood and build.
Noting his prior relationship with Jin Ji-won (Cho Yi Hyun), as they have been together ever since grade school, he enters a carpentry competition with her in order to find something worthwhile to pursue.
Furthermore, as a result of past events, Ki-joon forms an ill-fated relationship with Jung Young-joo (Choo Young Woo), a transferee to Nullji Science and Technology High School. He has the sole purpose of seeking vengeance on the school’s director.
In one of his schemes to get revenge for his brother’s accident, Kang Seo-young (Hwang Boreumbyeol) caught him throwing the pot at the director’s car. This leads to their forming an agreement to fake their relationship in order to ward off Seo-young’s suitors.

Considering Gong Ki-joon joined the woodworking club with no prior skills, he began to have poor outcomes from their woodworking efforts. Even Lee Kang Hoon, the new teacher who runs their club, believed he had little possibility of continuing to practice carpentry.
However, after discovering enjoyment and being reminded of his late grandfather when working with wood, Ki-joon established an affinity for woodworking. There was also a moment when he preferred carpentry over accompanying her mother abroad and continuing his taekwondo training.

Without a doubt, School 2021 taught several valuable lessons that everyone could consider and apply. It serves as a wake-up call for students who conceal their inner battles and have a high likelihood of suicidal thoughts. What’s comforting about this series is that issues involving an individual’s mental well-being are serious and cannot be ignored.
Similarly, the character growth of Young-joo and Lee Kang Hoon, first for Young-joo, where he gradually learns to forgive and love his friend since their childhood, and even builds a stronger friendship with him, was a significant change for his character. Lee Kang Hoon, who values his work-life balance more than his students, also changed when he opted to do the right thing as their teacher, setting an excellent example for them to follow.
Notably, the family relationships in the series are worth noting for displaying that expressing support for their children’s aspirations and being there for them, being happy even when they fail, actually helps the youth continue despite the challenging journey.
