K-Drama Review: “Soundtrack #1” Sweetly Strums Love Realization Between Two Long-Time Friends

Soundtrack #1

Endearingly presenting an unrequited love story, Soundtrack #1 swiftly paced its love rhythm.

The result is a soothing four-episode series wrapped in a cloying friends-turned-lovers narrative. Coupled with faint and direct love declarations, this mini romance series is a tranquilizing treat.

Soundtrack # 1 Final Episode Highlights

Weighing on what she truly feels, Eun-soo reached a point of realizing Sun-woo’s devotion deserves to be reciprocated. She, too, has entered unvoiced feelings and she has to wait for his return.

Politely turning down PD Kang’s proposal to date, she waits for when her best friend returns so she can finally confess. Just as her career flourishes, her wait is over when she sees the man she can’t wait to be with arrives for a quick vacation.

Armed with her sincere penned thoughts, she makes a firm decision to change their relationship to another level. Sun-woo responds with a heartfelt kiss and a promise to stay by her side forever.

Soundtrack # 1 Plot Recap

Friends for over 19 years, Han Sun-woo (Park Hyung Sik) and Lee Eun-soo (Han So Hee) share a special relationship. A kind of bond when they know they have to be at each other’s side.

Unknown to Eun-soo, her best friend has been harboring real romantic feelings towards her. But her position that they cannot cross the friendship line because it might make them break up someday hindered Sun-woo to formally pursue her.

When she discovers his feelings, she realizes that she, too, has also developed a dependence that only Sun-woo can provide. Later, she realized that his unrequited love at some point was mutual, but they were not able to properly confront it.

Soundtrack #1 Series Musings

Packaged with a robust roster of music lineup, Soundtrack #1 propelled mood-making songs as well as poignant ones befitting of the plot developments in the series.

Tracing the emotional growth shared by Sun-woo and Eun-soo showed the reality of the vague line separating best friends of the opposite sex.

Given its ordinary premise, the series endured its run thanks to the right number of episodes and the palpable chemistry of the love pairing.

Had it gone for more episodes, the drama would suffer a circling narrative. With that being said, this mini-drama induces clamor of wanting to see the love pairing in a longer story.

Light and feel-good, Soundtrack #1 has nothing much spectacular to offer in terms of uniqueness and creativity. Nevertheless, the tried and tested sweet love tale is worth your binge-watch schedule especially if you are looking for a quick drama break.
