Yumi's Cells

Yumi’s Cells Series Plot Recap

Following a breakup, Yumi (Kim Go Eun) lost her passion and desire to have a relationship ever since her love cell went into a coma. All she does on a daily basis is work as an Assistant Manager at Daehan Noodles Corporation.

Remarkably, Yumi’s love cell began to awaken as a result of Chae Ugi, Yumi’s junior officemate (Choi Min Ho). Which reveals that he befriended Yumi just to set her up on a date with one of his friends. Whereas, Yumi, who is once again heartbroken, prompts her “hysterious cell” to take over.

While on a blind date with Ugi’s friend Ku Woong (Ahn Bo Hyun), Yumi immediately turned from a person who was all smiles and warmth to a bored and uninterested type of attitude. That all changed when Ku Woong visited the drenched Yumi at her workplace with an umbrella in hand. This demonstrates his intention to go on a date with Yumi.

Yumi’s Cells Series Peak Points

Adorable Animated Cells and Hilarious Portrayal of Lead Actors

Meeting with Ku Woong for the first time, dressed ridiculously, his love cell panicked because his mind went blank when she saw Yumi and heard her adorable voice. Since taking the CSAT in 12th grade, he has never had a moment wherein his mind went blank.

On the other hand, Yumi’s reason cell convinces emotion cell because she holds the reaction puppet for Yumi’s expression, to not make it evident that they dislike Ku Woong for dressing shabbily on their first date. In order to expedite the date, Yumi’s cells decided that they should go to a nearby coffee shop.

In the meantime, Ku Woong, who is still in a blank condition, only responds briefly to Yumi, causing her cells to almost lose their temper. Ku Woong continues to stroll past Yumi without acknowledgment. When Yumi attempts to get his attention, he just informs her that he is on his way to the location she recommended.

On their way to the cafe, given the still blank Ku Woong and his fascination with Yumi’s cuteness, he accidentally bumps his head against the door handle, which is pure slapstick.

A Light Romantic Comedy Narrative Resulting In A Stress-Free Drama

Despite Yumi’s less than favorable first impression of Ku Woong, she miraculously fell in love with him as a result of his effort in dating Yumi.

When Yumi got drenched in the rain and fainted out, Ku Woong carried her around like a princess, even purchasing new clothes for her. Additionally, Ku Woong insisted on paying for their date, in contrast to Yumi’s ex, who was completely reliant on her income.

And, since they were at the beginning of their relationship, they both sought to learn about and understand one another, as other couples we know have done.

Similarly, Yumi and Ku Woong have their share of good and fun memories from their time together. Specifically, Yumi and Ku Woong share their first kiss, spend their first night together, and Woong elevates Yumi to the top of his priority list, among other things.

Yumi’s Cells Series Musings

Getting captivated by the charming and amusing animated cells and Kim Go Eun and Ahn Bo Hyun’s portrayal of them, Yumi’s Cells effortlessly mesmerized viewers with a job well done, despite the fact that the first season ended on a cliffhanger.

Correspondingly, it leaves numerous imprints, including Yumi’s heart is through her stomach. Having her heart highly guarded – and no one able to break through it, Ku Woong melted her heart by going on a lunch date that Yumi immensely liked.

Furthermore, Yumi, who is not the best at displaying her cuteness, asked Ruby to teach her how to be cute, which resulted in several failed efforts and Yumi developing her own cuteness skills.

Until it came to a point when Yumi continued to receive a cold treatment from Woong without even speaking to him about it. Woong, who is unaware that he is being uncommunicative with Yumi, continues to be so.

Finally, Yumi comes to terms with the fact that she must prioritize her self-worth over her profoundly dedicated love for Ku Woong.

As a result of Ku Woong’s repeated displays of unappreciation for Yumi, such as failing to inform Yumi that he sold his apartment for his business, and refusing to respond when asked about marriage, even changing the subject.

With Woong not being expressive and honest with Yumi, and his short responses to her despite her lengthy and meaningful messages to him, Yumi hit her tipping point and decided to throw the breakup card at him.

Hopefully, learning to love herself first would assist Yumi in taking a significant stride toward commitment and avoid having her heart shattered in the aforementioned season 2!
