If the teaser trailers of Pawn is a piece of what’s in store in the film, then moviegoers are definitely up for an endearing treat!
Powerhouse production team meets lauded actors in a heartening comedy film, Pawn. The movie narrates the story of a debt collector and his junior who unlikely gets a nine-year-old girl as collateral to pay her mom’s debt.
Portraying the main leads are Sung Dong Il and Kim Hee Won; with Ha Ji Won suiting up as the adult role of Park So Yi. The latter is the child actress to play the little girl Sung and Kim will raise in the story.
Sung Dong Il and Kim Hee Won have been delighting small screen fans with their travel adventure with Yeo Jin Goo on tvN’s House on Wheels. Interestingly, the lead actors of Pawn recently reunited in the 11th episode of the entertainment show.
Veteran Production Team
Adding to the anticipation of the film, is how veterans representing the film industry participate in the production of Collateral.
Producing the film is Director Yoon Je Gyun. He has worked on films Haeundae, Ode To My Father, Confidential Assignment and The Negotiation. Even with varying genres, he is a producer who remarkably combines laughter and emotion to human stories which is the same trademark aiming to be achieved by Collateral.
In charge of editing the film is Yang Jin Mo. Notably, Director Yang is the first Korean staff member to be nominated for an Academy Award through his work on the award-winning Bong Joon Ho film, Parasite.
Sitting on the director’s chair is Director Kang Dae Gyu who drew attention to the prison-set and woman-empowering story of Harmony in 2010.
In order to create the ambiance of the 1990s, artistic director Yang Hong Sam of Steel Rain 2: Summit and The Truth Beneath also joins the production team.
Slated for September 2020 release, the official big-screen launch is yet to be announced.
