With its promising plot and prominent cast, Ghost Doctor will stir up some fantasy-filled fun on your weekdays!
Director Bu Seong-Cheol (Your Honor, The Heirs, My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox) and writer Kim Sun-sun (Live Up To Your Name) collaborated for this upcoming Korean drama. Moreover, the new stills and posters posted recently heightened the expectations of fans all over the globe.
Airing on January 3, 2022, the series will take off as the highlight of Monday-Tuesday K-Drama slot. Not just that but, among all the Korean medical fantasy series, Ghost Doctor is anticipated to be a game-changer.
Along with the viewers waiting for the premiere, the production staff of the series is in high spirits. The production team gushes about the exciting development of the story.
In particular, they claimed that they are looking forward to the spectacular performance of the main actors; Jung Ji Hoon (Rain) and Kim Bum. Besides that, the writer and director of the upcoming series take pride in the portrayal of the other cast members in their respective characters.
Compelling Feel-Good Narrative
Ghost Doctor is a drama that illustrates the medical world – but with a dash of supernatural and a sprinkle of action. It narrates the story of a brilliant doctor Cha Young-min (Jung Ji Hoon). He is a thoracic surgeon possessing immense medical talent and could save patients with a single touch.
However, contrary to the typical selfless and kind main character, we get an egoistical and conceited male lead whose demeanor and appearance differ from the usual main characters with a superhero complex.
On the other hand, Ko Seung-tak (Kim Bum) is a gutsy privileged resident doctor. Ko Seung-tak is quite a peculiar character. Born in a family of medical practitioners, his vast medical knowledge intimidates professors.
Yet ironically, he often displays a bemused countenance. Despite the contrasting backgrounds of Seung-tak and Young-min, the two characters’ lives get entangled because of a fateful accident.
And although it may be true that the merging of bodies and soul is a timeworn concept, the series promises to deliver a fresh perspective with the twists and turns applied in the plot. In fact, we can expect plenty of new characters we will come to love and relate with.
The Homecoming of Popular Actresses
Idol-turn-actresses Uee and Son Na Eun will return to the small screens. On one hand, Uee will portray Jang Se-jin, an overseas neurosurgeon. Se-jin’s character appears indifferent and stoic. But on the contrary, she has a big compassionate heart. Her character’s tale will draw people’s attention because he and Cha Young-min (Jung Ji-hoon) are former lovers. Hence, the spotlight is on the sentimental romance that the pair will establish.
The production team outlines the pivotal role Uee partakes in Ghost Doctor.
“Uee, who is deeply immersed in the character of ‘Jang Se-jin’, creates a contrasting atmosphere with her deep eyes and bright energy, and is expected to double the charm of the pole and the pole. Please check the charm of Jang Se-jin, who is harsh but more human than anyone else, through ‘Ghost Doctor’.”
Meanwhile, Son Na Eun takes the role of an emergency room intern, Su-jeong Oh. She is a fearless protagonist who dreams of becoming a doctor like her late grandfather, despite her mother’s objections. Furthermore, unlike normal medical students, Su-jeong Oh is a character with a peculiar secret who believes in supernatural events.
The production team of ‘Ghost Doctor‘ commented on having Son Na Eun onboard.
“The courageous and positive energy Son Na-eun will show makes even the viewers feel good. The loveliness that only her has will add to the richness of the play. Please check out ‘Ghost Doctor’ to see Na-eun Son, who is showing ‘Sujeong Oh’ itself with a bouncy charm.”
Well-blended Mixture of Bromance and Humor
Jung Ji-hoon and Kim Bum deliver a comical synergy with their polar opposite charms. Not to mention great on-screen chemistry too. Just looking at the recent stills and posters released for Ghost Doctor, anyone will surely be enthralled by the appeal of the two actors.
To give a more vivid glimpse regarding the portrayal of the main characters, the production team shared their sentiments.
“Cha Young-min and Ko Seung-tak draw a special growth period through ‘Body Rental’. The story of only the two of them is going to give you a different kind of fun you’ve never seen before, so please pay attention. Also, please look forward to the synergy of actors Jung Ji-hoon and Kim Bum, who perfectly assimilated to Cha Young-min and Ko Seung-tak, respectively.”
Ghost Doctor will air on the small screens on the 3rd of January 2022 at 10:30 pm.
