Snowdrop Episode 8 Key Moments
Getting the news of the North and South engagement at Udo island, Chief Eun was notified that his son is one of the casualties. He rushes to where his son is currently being taken care of. Before drawing his last breath, he tells his father to ensure Young-ro’s safety at all cost.
“I never had any personal feelings for her.”
Lee Gang-mu momentarily freed himself and finds a room with records of activities by the students. Dr. Kang sedates Young-ro after fainting from the stress of knowing her brother died because of the man she saved.
Su-ho receives a reminder from Dr. Kang to not ruin the mission by harboring personal emotions sensing he’s already connected to Young-ro. However, he asserts not being fond of Young-ro at all.
Regaining her consciousness, Young-ro remembers her brother and pleads to Su-ho to let her out so she can see her brother for the last time. But his response is to bring her back to the cafeteria.
In the morning, a humble meal was served to the hostages. Gang-mu also learns some cryptic information about Ms. Pi aligning to his recent discovery of a strange room.
“If 30 hostages will be released and there are only three spies, won’t that be fun to watch?
Chief Ahn holds a media briefing about the ongoing hostage-taking situation. Releasing inaccurate information for the agency not to look bad, Doctor Kang orders Su-ho to release 30 students as a counterattack. He agrees and remarks not releasing the ones they need like the daughter of ANSP Director Eun.
Negotiating with Han Tae-il who does not want the release of 30 students, Su-ho ends the call once he spurted their demands. Unfortunately, no one from room 207 was released when Young-ro badly wants to leave.
Meanwhile, troublemaker Sang-beom causes a ruckus when Bun-ok finds a bag with weapons and money. Gyeok-chan discovers them and leads them back to the cafeteria. But Sang-beom who hid a gun points it at the North Korean spy.
It turns out there’re no bullets inside. That of course infuriated the volatile Gyeok-chan serving punches and kicks to Sang-beom. His father Grandpa Man-dong tries to shield his body to protect his son. Gang-mu calls out Gyeok-chan for his exaggerated punishment.
Following Su-ho’s demand to stop his altercation with Gang-mu, Gyeok-chan brings them to another room to be isolated. Grandpa Man-dong tips Gang-mu of a secret passage to exit the dormitory.
“All this will be over in nine days.”
Escaping the dormitory, Lee Gang-mu alerts the men on a stakeout to follow him inside. But Han Tae-il who assumes Chief Eun’s position in the meantime orders to have him go back as a hostage.
Gang-mu stumbles in a room where he can listen to the installed wiretaps and hears the conversation between Dr. Kang and Su-ho. Deducing the deal cut by the ruling party, Gang-mu confronts the reality of how they are being used by the higher-ups.
At that same moment, Su-ho also faces a dilemma if the South Korean leaders will stay true to their promise of sending them back after 10 days when they can abandon their agents easily.
Heading back to the dorm, Gang-mu encounters Gyeok-chan and was subdued when a triggered gun sounds from Su-ho. Listening to Gang-mu’s chronicle of how they are tools being used by their respective higher-ups, Su-ho remains resolute of accepting that fate if his party decided on it.
Young-ro and Su-ho get another time alone. After tending on her wound, he assures her that everything will be over after nine days. Using beauty trap, Young-ro hugs Su-ho from behind and gets him to hug her back as she sneaks to get the bomb detonator in his back pocket.
Snowdrop Episode 8 Musings
May the fleeting romance we got from Snowdrop this episode grow in numbers in the succeeding chapters. We’ve been diligently tuning in to K-Dramaworld’s longest hostage-taking situation for a while, so we deserve a lot of fan service.
A conjoined aggression is imminent especially if romance wins Su-ho’s heart over his sworn allegiance to the North Korean party.
With the series passing on brief details about Ms. Pi, inferring her dubious actions flows to interesting possibilities. Could it be that Ms. Pi is also a spy? But with which camp?
Based on how Young-ro easily melted Su-ho’s mettle, we can conclude that he’s deeply connected than he thought he could never be to her. She, on the other hand, is expected to go through the five stages of love grief following the events that happened between them.
Thus, while her recent defying action is logical, she soon might still be won over by what her heart really beats for right now.
