Doubling up the romance and charm, TVING’s Yumi’s Cells 2 finished its production presentation by promising an elevated drama this June 10!
Set to capture hearts, Yumi and her adorable cells are back for another season in Yumi’s Cells 2. Furthermore, they are joined by Park Jin Young, who will be introducing his cells for the first time.
The recent press conference was attended by Director Lee Sang Yeob and the anticipated pairing, Kim Go Eun and Park Jin Young. Their presentation radiates pink as the adorable cells pose together with the actors.
Progressing to the next chapter of Kim Yu Mi’s (Kim Go Eun) life, Yumi’s Cells 2 focuses on the healing and growth in her life. She will then face challenges in reality and will choose between love and her dreams.
Nevertheless, her co-worker Yoo Babi (Park Jin Young) and cells will be helping her in these times. Yumi and Babi’s cells will link the two and guide them through their emotions that eventually bud into romance.
Director Lee Sang Yeob then stated that “growth” and “love” will be the key points of Yumi’s Cells 2.
“Babi and Yumi’s romance is the main drawing point of the series, but it’s not just romance. They go through the process of taking a step forward in life. It’s a pleasant and exciting romance, but the key keyword in it is ‘growth.’ Yumi grows up in love. It has a colorful message.”
Second Time’s The Charm
Receiving a lot of love and applause from viewers all around the world, Kim Go Eun reveals why Yumi’s Cells is different from her previous works.
“I realized the popularity of season one. I’ve seen many acquaintances. My friends at work said I sympathize. Among the dramas I starred in, the response was the most touching in terms of ‘sympathy.’ I filmed it right away without second thoughts. Rather than feeling like a seasoned drama, it seemed to have a long-breathing drama. I’ve never seen season 2, so I’m really curious and excited.”
Park Jin Young, who will be the main lead in the second season, also feels overwhelmed and excited about the continuation of the series.
“I appeared in the second half of season one, and in the beginning, I saw it objectively from the viewer’s point of view, and it was so fun that I did my best to watch it. The shooting ended in December, and I kept thinking that it would be released soon. I wanted it to be released soon. It was fun. It was great. I wanted to show it to you.”
After Director Lee mentions Jin Young’s cells as the season’s charm, the actor describes Yoo Babi as a “soft boyfriend.” He also studied his character in the original webtoon and embodies him with that in mind. Director Lee also reveals that the drama has a lot of exciting scenes, especially with Jin Young’s dialogues.
Meanwhile, Kim Go Eun leaves a warm and short message to everyone.
“Life is the key. Yumi is the center, but it shows the story of all the characters. It’s our story.”
