Getting fans psyched for the much-anticipated RIPPLES FOR HOPE 2022, set to happen on November 26 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, we have gathered two songs from each performing act that you must listen to in order to truly feel the vibe during the one-night event.
MOMOLAND
Produced by MLD Entertainment through the reality show Finding Momoland, MOMOLAND debuted with the mini-album Welcome to Momoland on November 10, 2016, and has since captivated the audience with its irresistible tunes.
“BAAM” is a perfect illustration of the group’s signature sound. Released on June 2018, it is the title track for the group’s 4th EP, Fun to the World. “BAAM” is described as a witty expression of a situation in which a brilliant idea suddenly pops into someone’s mind out of nowhere.
MOMOLAND appears to take pride in being a provider of cheerful and upbeat songs since they released the theme song for the popular Korean animated character Pororo. “TIKI TAKA” is the sequel to “Banana Chacha,” which has a similar addicting rhythm.
In particular, “TIKI TAKA” provides happy memories for grown-ups and fresh fun for children with its catchy tune and easy-to-follow lyrics. The choreography for the song also contains fresher and more lovely charm than the previous theme song, which increased MOMOLAND’s popularity with the younger audience.
Everglow
Since releasing its debut single album, Arrival of Everglow, in March 2019, Everglow has made quite a reputation for itself in the K-pop world.
Consisting of six members, E:U, Sihyeon, Mia, Onda, Aisha, and Yiren, Everglow has provided a string of successful singles, including the title track “DUN DUN,” off the first EP Reminiscence, released in February 2020.
Specifically, “DUN DUN” is a heart-moving track that immediately captivates listeners from its intro. The next parts of the song feature a trap-heavy EDM beat that propels a memorable synthesizer melody.
However, Everglow began to make significant headway toward stardom when “Adios” was released in August 2019. Spearheading the group’s 2nd single album Hush, “Adios” had brought the girls their first-ever music show win.
“Adios” brings out the luxurious girl crush concept, containing the members’ strong and unconventional images. Specifically, each of them forwards a fantastic sound that makes listeners refuse to say goodbye to their flawless discography.
AKMU
What can we say, AKMU is an absolute definition of music. Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun really did the world a favor when they joined and won in the SBS program K-pop Star Season 2.
Later, the sibling duo made their debut under YG Entertainment with the studio album Play in April 2014. This was the beginning of songs that featured clever lyric writing and commendable vocals.
Particularly, “How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love” is the title track of the 3rd studio album Sailing, which was released on September 2019. The song was a huge hit with its novel-like title that makes listeners think about its meaning more than twice.
“How can I love the heartbreak, you’re the one I love” drew attention with its parting lyrics that sympathize with lovers who, unfortunately, have to end their relationship. Suhyun is a key point here, and Chanhyuk absolutely captured his sister’s angelic voice.
And when we talk about vocals, it is a must to mention IU. AKMU collaborated with the songstress through the track “NAKKA,” from the 2nd EP Next Episode released in July 2021. The album features seven tracks, all collaborating with impressive artists, making it the duo’s most powerful release so far.
RIPPLES FOR HOPE 2022: A K-Pop Friendship Day & Night
Meanwhile, the RIPPLES FOR HOPE 2022 will commence on November 26, 2022, at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. Brought to fans by The Ripple Society, Happee Hour, and Pulp Live World, the event will start at noon with games participated by 19 local K-pop fan clubs.
By 7 PM, the arena will be filled with astounding performances from Everglow, MOMOLAND, and AKMU.
