A Meaningful Project for Kim Yoo Jung
At the press conference held on February 7, Kim reckons about her experiences working on a theatrical project for the first time. Relaying she went through a process where everything was new and enjoyable, she hopes for people to come to see her latest work.
“I really wanted to do a play. It was like a dream to me, and I am very grateful to have the opportunity to meet the audience on a big stage. The original work and the adaptation of the play were good enough, so I can see myself as a viola. I thought a lot and tried to show a good image. I am proud that there are many people who like it. I received a lot of healing because all the actors I work with are good.”
Expressing the meaningful lessons she learned while working with fellow actors and staff, she revealed how they put a lot of effort and communicated well to work on Shakespeare In Love.
“It was the first time I had the experience of focusing on the person in front of me, the many actors next to me, and myself. I have been able to focus more on acting. I have accumulated good experiences and learned while thinking about how to approach each word I say.”
Portraying Viola de Lesseps, a daughter of a wealthy merchant, Kim Yoo Jung explained her preparations to the character.
“I made a lot of preparations to breathe life into Viola and act. I read countless scripts, but it was difficult to read the play script for the first time. At first, I couldn’t figure out how to analyze and accept it. Viola especially loves Shakespeare and is a huge fan. I thought she would understand the meaning of the lines more than anyone else, so I tried to incorporate them. Initially, there were words that were difficult to understand, and I worried a lot about how to say them, but after saying them, I realized that The lines seemed like words they wanted to express. More than anything, I hope the audience will feel this poetic expression with their hearts when they hear it.”
Kim Yoo Jung made her CF debut in 2003 and she has been active in various works.
Although she started out as a child actress, she has established herself as an adult actress and is well-loved by the public. She further explains why she decided to join Shakespeare In Love.
“I participated in Shakespeare in Love because I really wanted to do it. I think it will remain a good memory for me for a long time especially the passion and the people. I felt so many happy moments here. In the future, even when it’s hard and exhausting, I will think of that moment a lot. Every performance is precious and I’m happy.”
