Ryan Ding ruins Yang Chaoyue’s wedding in the snow in the latest episode of Love You Seven Times; Yang Chaoyue revealed that she cried constantly for two days when filming the iconic scene.
Starring Yang Chaoyue (杨超越) and Ryan Ding (丁禹兮), the romantic and light-hearted comedy drama Love You Seven Times (七时吉祥) emerged as the top 2 on iQIYI’s list of hit dramas within the first week of broadcast. Produced by Stellar Media, which previously produced the phenomenal blockbuster Love Between Fairy and Devil (苍兰诀), Yang Chaoyue and Ryan Ding formed the ship named “Xiang Yi Chu Shi Yi Chu” (祥一初是一初), and the pair were on three consecutive days of livestream where they accompanied fans alongside watching the dramas premiere.
In the recent episode of the love pairing in their second lifetimes, there is an intense love scene in the snow where Xiangyun (played by Yang Chaoyue) threatened to kill herself for Lu Changkong (played by Ryan Ding). Xiangyun took an arrow for Lu Changkong and fell to the ground, with her blood staining the wedding scene.
Upon watching this depressing scene, the audience expressed that they have been crying for three days and that their eyes have been swollen as they watched Love You Seven Times.
With regard to that depressing scene, Yang Chaoyue revealed the filming of the crying scene took two days. As she watched the premiere with the audience in the livestream, she was moved once again, and said to Ryan Ding with tears in her eyes: “From your eyes, I can see that every tear Lu Changkong shed is for Xiangyun. I really hope that both Lu Changkong and Song Xiangyun are well-liked by everyone.”
During the two years of leading the army to fight in the drama, Lu Changkong wrote letters to Xiangyun every month, but Xiangyun did not read any of it as she wanted to withdraw from arranged marriage. Although Xiangyun fell in love with him in the end, she did not have time to read the letters in the drama. Yang Chaoyue went beyond and posted 24 Weibo video clips in the middle of the night.
She cried a bucket of tears as she read all 24 letters from Lu Changkong from Xiangyun’s point of view, which made netizens sympathize with her. Netizens could feel Yang Chaoyue’s love for the character, as well as feel that she made up for the regrets she had in this life.
30 minutes before the livestream broadcast, Ryan Ding had to temporarily switch to an outdoor venue since the lock of his room was broken while filming in Hengdian. He got bitten by mosquitoes and sprayed a huge amount of mosquito repellent. Ryan Ding optimistically said that he was treating it like a moisturiser.
Yang Chaoyue kindly asked if he needed her to provide the password to her room in Hengdian, while teasing him to not camp with mosquitoes. When both of them were questioned on their roles in the crew, Ryan Ding thinks that he is “responsible for sadness”, and joked that Changkong’s three stages of sadness are divided into levels of “moderate, high and extremely high” while Yang Chaoyue said that she is the one who warms up the crew.
In the story of their second lives, Yang Chaoyue felt that it was difficult for Xiangyun as she still could not restrain herself from falling in love with him, though knowing the ending might not be pleasant. Yang Chaoyue said, “Xiangyun was originally living in the sky as a carefree little fairy and a free cloud, but she received love from her family and the world in this life. She then learns to protect the people she loves.”
Ryan Ding said that Changkong was originally leading a happy life, but he was forced to grow up overnight. Even when he returned to Chukong Xianjun, he still had the memory of Changkong in his heart.
Love You Seven Times is adapted from Jiu Lu Fei Xiang’s (九鹭非香) novel titled Seven Unfortunate Lifetimes, All Thanks To A Single Moment Of Impulse (一时冲动,七世不祥), it is directed by Li Nan (李南) and starred Ryan Ding and Yang Chaoyue. It tells the story of Xiang yun (played by Yang Chaoyue) and Chu Kong (played by Ryan Ding), who accidentally got bounded by the red thread while quarreling and were punished to go through seven lives of love before returning to the heavenly realm.
