Jeon Mi Do, starring in SBS’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama Connection, expressed her immense excitement about working in a romantic crime series.
Scheduled for its debut on May 24th at 10 PM, Connection delves into the enduring 20-year friendship between a narcotics team’s ace detective, who fell victim to drug addiction, and his ally over two decades, unraveling a suspenseful tale of addiction tracking.
In Connection, Jeon Mi Do portrays Oh Yun-jin, a reporter for the Anhyeon Economic Daily, seemingly on the fringe of the inner circle despite her aspirations, but in reality, a minor character within it. Embodying Joan of Arc’s uncompromising personality, Jeon Mi-do delicately and vividly portrays Oh Yun-jin’s complex and multifaceted inner world, evoking empathy from viewers. Through Connection, she showcases her most cunning and audacious character portrayal to date, broadening her acting spectrum.
In a written interview, Jeon Mi Do shared her initial reaction upon reading the script: “Connection marks my third drama, all of which revolve around the theme of friendship. It feels almost fateful.” Anticipating her debut as the lead in a genre drama, she added, “I’m eager to see how viewers perceive this unfamiliar character portrayal.”
Jeon Mi Do details her intensive preparation process for the role, including interacting with real-life reporters to embody Oh Yun-jin’s journalistic demeanor authentically.
Reflecting on her character’s development, she remarked, “Initially challenging to transition into a character with confident tendencies, as opposed to my more introverted nature, but with time, I’ve immersed myself in Oh Yun-jin’s persona.”
Navigating the unfamiliar terrain of a genre drama, Jeon faced new challenges such as action sequences and chase scenes, which she embraced with Ji Sung’s seasoned guidance. She humorously shared her newfound appreciation for genre films, musing, “Who knew my driver’s license would come in handy for chase scenes?”
