Channel A’s upcoming drama The Witch has unveiled the first still cuts of Roh Jeong Eui, portraying the enigmatic Mi-jeong, a woman labeled as a “witch” due to a string of unfortunate events surrounding the men who fall for her.
The Witch, based on the popular webtoon by Kang Full, tells the story of Dong-jin, a man who attempts to defy the tragic fate that befalls those who love Mi-jeong, ultimately finding himself drawn into her mysterious world.
Roh Jeong-Eui‘s portrayal of Mi-jeong is captivating. The still cuts showcase her with a haunting aura, her face shrouded in shadows, reflecting the isolation and loneliness she experiences due to the tragic circumstances that have plagued her life. Her attire – a low-slung hat and an all-black ensemble – further emphasizes her desire for seclusion and her fear of the outside world.
However, despite her isolation, a yearning for connection shines through in her eyes, reflecting a longing to escape the shadows that have consumed her life.
Director Kim Tae-gyun praised Roh Jung-eui’s performance, stating, “It was as if Mi-jeong was walking towards us. She was completely immersed in the role from the very first test shoot, captivating not only me but the entire staff.”
The production team also highlighted Roh’s versatility as an actress, noting her ability to seamlessly portray the complex layers of Mi-jeong – a character who embodies both a chilling mystery and a heartbreaking vulnerability.
“The Witch” promises to be a captivating and emotionally resonant drama that explores themes of fate, love, and the power of human connection. With a talented cast and a captivating storyline, this series is undoubtedly one to watch.
The Witch is set to premiere on Saturday, February 15th on Channel A.
