Ruby Lin-Produced Taiwanese Series “Living” To Launch On iQiyi in September

Taiwanese TV drama queen and award-winning producer Ruby Lin (林心如), known for her many roles in timeless classics such as My Fair Princess, returns with a new Taiwanese drama production Living (有生之年), which is set to air on iQIYI on September 17.

The original series stars a team of renowned Taiwanese veteran actors including Chris Wu (吴慷仁), Sandrine Pinna (张榕容), Joe Cheng (郑元畅), JC Lin (林哲熹), Yang Kuei Mei (杨贵媚), King Jieh-wen (喜翔), Sun Ke-fang (孙可芳), Beatrice Fang (方志友) and young actor Hsieh Zhanrong (谢展荣).

Living began filming in September last year, and one year on, the crew and cast coordinated their social media postings to announce the show’s premiere on August 24. The main visual poster as well as two trailers, the “Going Home Edition (回家篇)” and “Love Edition (爱情篇)” were also released, giving fans something exciting to look forward to.

Living revolves around the Gao family and Gao Jiayue, played by Chris Wu, a man who has faced challenges in both his relationship and career. Returning from a foreign land, he has made up his mind to bid farewell to the world but wants to visit his family one last time before that.

When he returns home, he unexpectedly finds that his own family is in shambles, and everyone is living a life very different from what he expected.

In the “Going Home” trailer, we see Gao Jiayue selling his shop after his business fails, and he is taunted by the new landlord who boasts that he has not only bought over his shop but also his life.

When he returns home, his second brother, played by Joe Cheng, also accuses him of being a failure who is reliant on his elderly parents, and even his younger brother, played by JC
Lin, rejects a hug from him.

Finding himself shunned by his own family, Gao silently laments to his father that he has missed home, and has thus decided to return.

In contrast, the “Love” trailer explores the relationships in Gao Jiayue’s life. Throughout the series, Gao forms relationships with three different women.

We see a scene of him eagerly rushing to purchase a pack of condoms, only to be met with the news that his girlfriend is pregnant with a child that is not his. We also see scenes of him encountering and flirting with characters played by Sandrine Pinna and Sun Ke-fang.

While Living explores the somewhat depressing life of Gao Jiayue, the series promises to also be a comedic one, with moments that will make the audience laugh, but also shed tears for the characters whose stories they follow.

Living will be available on iQIYI (www.iq.com & apps) worldwide (except Hong Kong and Macau) from September 17.
