Netflix is doubling down on its commitment to local storytelling, recognizing the powerful connection audiences have with narratives that reflect their own culture and experiences.
Following a successful 2024 with hits like Let’s Talk About CHU and Born for the Spotlight, the 2025 slate of Chinese-language series and films emphasizes Taiwanese talent, both in front of and behind the camera, and spans a diverse range of genres. Netflix understands that viewers, both locally and globally, crave authentic and relatable stories.
This year’s C-Dramas on Netflix lineup features five new series, showcasing the breadth and depth of Taiwanese creativity. From unconventional rom-coms to gripping thrillers and period dramas with modern sensibilities, there’s something for everyone.
A Refreshing Take on Marriage
I Am Married… But! stars Alice Ko (Copycat Killer) and Jasper Liu (Twogether) as a young couple navigating the ups and downs of married life—with their parents along for the ride.
This witty rom-com is the brainchild of Li Nien-hsiu, an award-winning writer-director known for Hebei Taipei and Can You Hear Me? In her series debut, Li continues her exploration of family dynamics through a modern, female-centered lens. Fittingly, I Am Married… But! will launch on Valentine’s Day 2025, offering a fresh and heartfelt look at love and commitment.
Rene Liu’s First Drama Series
Acclaimed singer-songwriter, actress, and director Rene Liu (Us and Them) makes her long-awaited series debut with Forget You Not.
The story follows Le-le, an aspiring stand-up comedian (played by Hsieh Ying-xuan, Born for the Spotlight, Wave Makers), who juggles the challenges of divorce while caring for her father (portrayed by legendary actor Chin Han) after his dementia diagnosis. Wallace Kuo (Light the Night) co-stars as her estranged husband.
Blending humor and poignancy, Forget You Not reflects the signature storytelling style of Taiwanese creators. Partly inspired by Liu’s own experiences, the series arrives in Q2 2025, offering a heartfelt take on love, family, and self-discovery.
Shu Qi and Sinje Lee Join Forces for Revenge
Award-winning actresses Shu Qi and Sinje Lee team up in the high-stakes thriller The Resurrected.
The series follows two desperate mothers who bring a deceased scam ring leader back to life in a relentless quest to avenge their kidnapped daughters.
A decade in the making, The Resurrected is a passion project for writer-director Leste Chen (Upcoming Summer, Delicious Romance). Co-directed by Hsu Chao-jen (Living), this gripping revenge drama delivers an intense mix of action and emotional depth. Look out for its premiere in Q3 2025.
The Writers of Someday or One Day Return with a Dark Twist
The team behind the beloved time-travel romance Someday or One Day is back—this time with a much darker edge.
Writers Chien Chi-feng and Lin Hsin-huei reunite for Had I Not Seen The Sun, a two-part drama blending romance, mystery, and thriller elements.
This project marks two milestones: Chien’s directorial debut and the duo’s first streaming-exclusive series. With greater creative freedom, they’re tackling rare and challenging themes that traditional platforms rarely explore. Had I Not Seen The Sun premieres in Q4 2025, offering a gripping and unconventional take on love and fate.
A Period Drama with a Modern Twist
For those craving something heartwarming, Perfect Match brings the charm of a Chinese period family drama to Netflix.
Set in the Northern Song dynasty, the series follows a determined matriarch trying to find the perfect life partners for her five daughters. Starring Lu Yu-xiao (Blossoms in Adversity), Wang Xing-yue (The Double), and Ni Hong-jie, this series offers a rich historical setting with surprisingly modern themes of gender dynamics and empowerment.
Originally a hit during the Lunar New Year break, Perfect Match will now reach global audiences, blending tradition with contemporary appeal.
Supporting Taiwan’s Creative Community
Beyond delivering compelling stories, we remain committed to nurturing Taiwan’s creative industry. In 2024, we launched the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity in Taiwan, hosting workshops for writers, producers, and VFX professionals in collaboration with the Golden Horse Film Festival. This initiative continues in 2025, empowering new and established voices to share their unique stories.
By spotlighting bold creators—from rising talents to industry icons—C-Dramas on Netflix 2025 slate pushes the boundaries of storytelling, ensuring that culturally rich and deeply personal narratives continue to captivate audiences in Taiwan and beyond.
