C-Drama Review: “Love 020” Gifts Any Drama Fan Girl With Sweet Campus Romance Treat

Love 020

I used to watch Japanese, Chinese, and Taiwanese dramas religiously when I was young, but since I find Korean dramas more well-conceived, I had decided to just focus on K-Dramas.

But every now and then, I watch other dramas recommended by friends, and that’s why I watched the Chinese drama Love 020. I actually like pairing this up with another C-Drama, A Love So Beautiful. The latter I will write about in the future.

My review is a bit late, but who knows you have not seen this gem yet, so I’m giving you one of the best fan service Asian dramas ever.

To be honest, the love story is too trite, but the male lead will cause you dreamy moments with so many heart flutters. You will surely develop a fictional romance with him, one-sided of course… and you will thank me later for introducing Xiao Nai and Yang Yang. *chuckles

Quick Plot Recap

Love 020 is set in a university where Bei Wei Wei (Zheng Shuang), a sophomore Computer Engineering student falls in love with her department senior Xiao Nai (Yang Yang). Unbeknownst to her, he is also his virtual husband in a popular RPG game they are both playing.

Lucky for her, he is also mutually attracted to her in reality. He reveals his identity and seals a relationship with her becoming an official campus couple. When she graduated, he eventually asked her to get married to him.

Love 020 Musings

So there’s no heavy love conflict in the drama, there is a girl who likes Xiao Nai, but he is quick to disregard her because he has only his eyes for Bei Wei Wei. There is also a guy who likes the heroine, but she is quick to draw lines that it will never work out between them. The plot is easy to digest and never swerved to anything remotely unrelated to developing the romantic ride of the love couple.

Vanilla romance at its best, Xiao Nai will surely haunt your dreams. I promise. Yang Yang had nicked a relatively big part of my fangirl heart from Love 020. Periodically, when I can’t write, I go to Netflix and run the series to make me feel better. Yes, he is my therapy pill. *chuckles

The mushy scenes are nailed to induce girly squeals and hyperventilating moments every time the camera captured Xiao Nai’s lazy smile and handsome face. It is such a universal drama cure for any kind of stress. *chuckles

Again we only have a plain, just cotton candy romance in the story, but it’s a feel-good spectacle perfect for scheduled drama weekend. If you can have a pajama party with your girlfriends, then it’s a drama I would recommend to munch on your video plate.

It is a love drama full of ideas on how to make female viewers happy by reminding us of our very own campus crushes and those untold coy memories we had about our first loves.
