Following the end of Wuxia Mystery series Mysterious Lotus Casebook (莲花楼), fans of the genre can anticipate more exciting shows as iQIYI announces the release of Tiger and Crane (虎鹤妖师录) on October 2.
Starring Jiang Long (蒋龙) and Zhang Linghe (张凌赫), the audience can soon immerse themselves in the intense, gripping plot adapted from Huang Xiaoda’s (黄晓达) novel of the same name, directed by award-winning director Guo Hu (郭虎).
In Tiger and Crane, Zhang Linghe plays a character with a dual personality–the first is gentle and elegant, while the other is ruthless and violent. Zhang Linghe’s appearance in period costume dramas never disappoints, as many fans were left in awe after seeing his sly smile in the trailer.
Zhang Linghe has gained much popularity following his success in Love between Fairy and Devil (苍兰诀) and My Journey to You (云之羽). With Story of Kunning Palace (宁安如梦) being a highly anticipated series, his performance in Tiger and Crane is one that many are looking forward to!
On the other hand, Jiang Long’s performance in The King’s Avatar (全职高手), Legend of Fuyao (扶摇), and Lucky with You (三生有幸遇上你) has left a lasting impression on the audience. His talent in the variety field has been vouched for after he won the pair award with Zhang Chi (张弛) on the 2022 Super Sketch Show (一年一度喜剧大赛).
Hence, many are looking forward to his first collaboration with Zhang Linghe as he takes on the main lead role in Tiger and Crane.
Other than the star-studded lineup and director, the production team isn’t one to be overlooked as well. Having directed many Wuxia and period dramas such as One and Only (周生如故), Mysterious Lotus Casebook, Eternal Love (三生三世十里桃花), Love O2O (微微一笑很倾城), Tiger and Crane is also a series by Guo Hu that many cannot wait to catch.
Tiger and Crane tells the story of the optimistic and cheerful mountain orphan Hu Zi (starring Jiang Long), who accidentally devoured the treasure of the sun and met Qi Xiao Xuan (starring Zhang Linghe), the stern imperial demon master.
These two young people with very different personalities are forced to go on the road together because of a red pearl, and they meet Zhao Xin Tong (starring Wang Yuwen 王玉雯), Wang Yu Qian (starring Chen Youwei 陈宥维), forming a ‘Tiger and Crane’ alliance.
Just as the ambitions of the human and demon worlds are about to bring a catastrophe to the world, these passionate young people with dreams are willing to sacrifice themselves to save the commoners from danger.
Tiger and Crane will premiere exclusively from 2 October 2023 on iQIYI (www.iq.com and apps).
