Zhang Linghe is definitely on the radar as of now, with many hot topics surrounding him appearing on Chinese social media platform Weibo.
Other than his promotions of Tiger and Crane (虎鹤妖师录) and Bright Eyes in the Dark (他从火光从走来) on his personal account, he has also become a trending topic after sharing photos taken in Paris.
Photos of 1.88m tall Zhang Linghe in a trench coat became a hot topic on Weibo. Not only that, fans who have successfully bumped into the star in Paris also flaunted their photos with him online. Many felt that it resembled that of a couple shot, leaving his fans envious of the opportunity.
Zhang Linghe, also fondly known as iQIYI’s talented young star, stars in his fourth iQIYI original series Tiger and Crane, since his debut in 2020.
With many popular dramas under his belt, he has received much support and love and was invited to the Paris Fashion Week recently and shared many photos taken in the city of love while also stopping for photos with fans. Many have expressed their envy towards those who managed to catch the star as many of the photos taken resembled couple photos.
Despite only debuting in 2020, Zhang Linghe will be starring in seven iQIYI original productions with the upcoming titles confirmed for release in 2024. The seven includes worldwide sensation Love between Fairy and Devil (苍兰诀), the recently aired My Journey to You (云之羽) and Bright Eyes in the Dark. His acting skills have also been recognized and well-liked by the audience.
Most recently, Tiger and Crane, in which he stars as one of the main leads, has also received much positive fanfare from the crowd, clinching the top three most popular Chinese drama in China and overseas since it aired on 2 October.
The series tells the story of a group of teenagers who for the sake of their dreams, love, and responsibilities, trudge through the gloom of the chaotic world to save the world. The optimistic and cheerful mountain orphan Huzi (starring Jiang Long 蒋龙) accidentally swallows a red pearl, a treasure of Yang, and befriends the cold captain, who is also a clean freak, Qi Xiao Xuan (starring Zhang Linghe), a national demon master. The two young people with very different personalities are forced to go on the road together because of a red pearl, and they make friends with Zhao Xin Tong (starring Wang Yuwen 王玉雯), Wang Yu Qian (starring Chen Youwei 陈宥维) and others.
Zhang Linghe, whose character hides two different souls under the facade of one person, has been revealing his dark side in recent episodes. Shaking away the usual gentleman look in the
earlier episodes, he is seen donned in full black to suit his dark persona. With blood trickling out from a corner of his mouth, he gives off a completely different aura.
This brand-new appearance, different from his previous demon master persona, sparked much chatter online, where fans complimented him on his superb acting skills, especially since it was his first-ever antagonist role.
Despite the series developing on a more “serious” note of demon catching, many who have watched the series felt that it also takes on a slightly comedic angle, allowing them to enjoy it with much laughter and enthusiasm. One thing that stood out the most would probably be the chemistry between the demon catching team of four individuals who often come out with something unexpected or unexplainable.
Some fans even used the term “oddly dumb team” to describe them, in an endearing tone. Other than the list of popular series Love between Fairy and Devil, My Journey to You, Bright Eyes in the Dark and Tiger and Crane which have already aired or are currently airing, the audience can also look forward to three other series of Zhang Linghe which will air next year, including the highly anticipated Story of Kunning Palace (宁安如梦), Fox Spirit Matchmaker 1 (狐妖小红娘月红篇) where he will be starring alongside international big name Yang Mi (杨幂) and Xianxia series, Reborn for Love (四海重明).
