Soon to drop its enthralling story, My Name lead cast shared fond memories and details of the jaw-dropping protagonist, and we couldn’t be more excited to witness it!
Director Kim Jin Min, with prominent cast members Han So Hee, Park Hee Soon, Ahn Bo Hyun, Kim Sang Ho, Lee Hak Jo, and Jang Ryul, graced Netflix’s recently held press conference.
My Name is a Netflix series that depicts the story of the strenuous Han So Hee. She encounters a variety of characters on her mission to find the murderer of her father.
It is intended to foster great synergy among the cast and allow viewers to immerse themselves in the series of “self-serving action” moments.
1. Han So Hee’s Portrayal of Ji Woo
Following her melodramatic projects, So Hee arduously dived into a previously unseen role. In which she demonstrates her admirable effort to portray the complex character of Ji Woo.
Moreover, she confessed that undergoing the training for the first time was not an easy task to do. Also, success requires an ample amount of time and choreography practice with the other cast members.
“At first, I actually thought that I’ll be able to pull it off easily. So, I went to action school and attended one day class and then I thought wow— once you try to fake it then you will just end up not succeeding in it.”
2. My Name Cast Camaraderie
Due to the number of action scenes, the cast was involved 2-3 months prior in physically heavy training. Ahn Bo Hyun stressed that they choreographed their movements, resulting in forming a shared bond with the cast members.
“Talking about videos I mean that was necessary because we were doing this choreographed moves together. We had to be in harmony the whole time that is why I had to take some video of how we’re doing and I shared it with a lot of the other cast members and thanks to the two months that we have spent together we were able to smile a lot on set when we were actually doing the shooting and we actually had great synergy thanks to those two months.”
Meanwhile, Park Hee Soon simultaneously described it as they “sweat” together and conversed about the series during their preparation.
“We became very close to each other even before the shooting began. So, we were already very tight before we started shooting and we would always worry about each other. Check on each other, make sure no one got hurt during the sequences— that was the first thing that we would share on our group chat.”
3. Lead Actors’ Role Commitment
Han So Hee’s greatest obstacle while filming the combat scenes was her fear of injuring the people engaged behind-the-scenes. That is why she exercised such caution to avoid hurting anyone.
“I was practicing a lot not just to protect myself but I really wanted to make sure that I don’t hurt anyone and finish the project safely,” she remarked.
Apart from being extremely careful on set, Park Hee Soon acknowledged Han So Hee’s effort in gaining 10 kg of muscle weight.
Meanwhile, Ahn Bo Hyun did extensive workouts, which culminated in him gaining weight. On the other hand, Jang Ryul initially struggles to lose weight, but he received assistance from Bo Hyun.
“But off of the script, I saw that Gang Tae would be a lot more slender. I mean his appearance that I imagined was different from what I was like back then. So, that is why I had to lose weight to become more like him on the outside. But in the process, Ahn Bo Hyun, he actually let me know a lot about the diet and what has to be done to lose or gain weight so I got a lot of help from him.”
4. Drug gang versus the Police unit
In the series, the two team leaders revealed their thoughts about their subordinates and shared views on being with them.
To begin, Park Hee Soon indicated that Lee Hak Jo is a person who requires time to get to know. While praising Jang Ryul, he stated that he will be a “breakout star” if the drama is well received by audiences.
“He’s the dark horse, the hidden gem if you will watch the series, so I hope and I believe that he will gain and make a name for himself through My Name.”
Kim Sang Ho then claimed that he was envious of the other company due to its size. However, his group consists solely of him, Pil Do, and Hye Jin.
“We did have a great team chemistry it was fun but I still can’t deny the fact that I was jealous because I wanted to be a part of that huge group too.”
Besides this, Han So Hee regarded the distinctions between the two teams.
“One smells like books, papers and the office, whereas the other reeks of blood and perspiration.”
