Missing the endearing story of Imitation? Here is a list of encouraging lessons especially dedicated to young and young at hearts pushing to make their dreams come true.
Imitation is a great drama for every youth today. It’s a light-hearted story with the right amount of serious and relevant topics meant to leave thought-provoking moments.
It’s not too early or too late to chase your dreams
After Omega-3’s early disbandment, the girls feel that their dreams and goals in life are over. Even though they try their best to at least stick to their plans in life it wasn’t going where it has to be. However, when they meet Mr. Ji-hak an opportunity opens up for them. They accept his offer and were able to achieve their dreams.
This moment teaches the viewers especially youth that aspiring to fulfil goals does not have an expiration date. It can be achieved when you put effort and time into it. We should also pursue those opportunities that will come our way. Be a risk-taker because favorable circumstances are not served with luck
Learn to be more determined and hard-working
Ma-ha is one of the most determined female leads we have come across this season. She is willing to do everything for her dreams and ambitions in life. She works hard for her passion and was enthused enough to make herself shine on the stage.
Ryeok is our male lead who is hardworking and willing to do everything. Even though he is overworking he didn’t complain because he knows that it’s what he wants. He knows how to deal with working under pressure.
This teaches us that it’s ok to be ambitious for our goals in life. Most of the time people want to achieve something but are too lazy to start those goals. Putting our mind and heart to a goal means we shouldn’t slack off and wait for the apple to fall from the tree.
Imitation shows us that we can’t achieve things if we just wait. We should grab every chance that we can get.
Be unbothered to negative comments
When Ma-ha starts to copy La Li-Ma, a lot of bashers say hurtful comments towards her. Also when some fans of Shax assumes that she is trying to seduce or flirt with Ryeok, she doesn’t know how to deal with it and even read those comments.
Mr. Ji-hak says then gave the proper response to ignore those comments. But if the bashers go overboard, then they should be reported accordingly. Social Media is a big part of everyone’s life today. It’s more like a necessity now. Internet is a perfect place for youth today. However, there is a downside part of the internet and social media.
We often seek validations about our physical, emotional, and behavior with it. It’s not healthy especially when strangers start to judge you just because of some attitude that you show or even just how you look. That’s why most teenagers feel insecure and lack confidence.
We must learn to ignore those judgments and negative comments about us. However, if it’s constructive criticism, we must learn to accept and learn from it.
Respect someone’s privacy
Since this drama is about Korean entertainment artists. They present one of the main problems every idol can relate to and that is stalkers. Some fans violate basic privacy and it is a serious problem in the K-Pop industry.
We as youth, tend to be obsessive with things that we love. It’s ok to have something that we seriously like however being obsessed with it is too much. Also, since we have access to the internet easily we sometimes step on a dangerous line between private things and social things.
We often overshare our information on social media or stalk someone through it and it’s not healthy. We should know how to use social media for good use and not for something that can harm or cause discomfort to anyone.
Take care of your mental health
At the beginning of the story, we saw how mentally exhausting it is to be a K-pop idol. Most of them start their career during pre-teens or teenage years. The frustrations of not being able to debut as an artist, are the most disappointing thing for them. This leads to suicidal attempts and depression. However, when they get to debut, another frustration will be waiting for them. It’s being accepted and known to everyone.
In real life, mental health or talking about mental health is taboo to some people. Some still can’t accept or talk about it. As a youth, we should nurture our mental health. Talking about it doesn’t mean that you have a problem with your mental state. It can be because it’s a part of us that we should take care of like how we take care of our physical bodies.
We should erase the stigma that mental health is a complicated thing that we shouldn’t take about, instead make it a normal thing for everyone. Because at the end of the day, health is wealth. We should take care of it and maintain it in a great state.
Why You Should Not Miss Imitation?
Imitation is an encouraging drama for anyone who aspires to become an artist. It’s also a great story for everyone who strives to get their goals and dreams. In the initial episodes, it was quite depressing, but it just shows us the truth about K-pop idols and the way they have to deal with certain things to achieve their dreams and how they should maintain to be in the spotlight.
If you like Movies like Dream Girls or La La Land, this series is for you. We can see some similarities this series has to those Hollywood movies but with the scenarios from the realities of the Kpop industry. If those movies grasp the life of those people dreaming to be in Hollywood. Imitation is for people to understand the depth of the Kpop industry and how many people wanted to be a part of it.
Also, it’s a bit sad that the series only has 12 episodes. A lot of viewers wish the series is longer. But at the very least the message it wished to express was imparted.
