Taiwanese Romance Anthology Series “At the Moment” To Traverses Different Love Nuances

A romantic anthology series, At the Moment, showcasing 10 unexpected modern love stories, is set to launch November 10 globally and exclusively on Netflix.

The series features an impressive ensemble cast, including Gingle Wang, Wu Kang-ren, Ruby Lin, Alyssa Chia, Dee Hsu, Austin Lin, Esther Liu, Huang Lu Tzu-yin (Lulu), Tseng Jing-hua, Vivian Sung, Puff Kuo, Kelly Lin, Derek Chang, Terrance Lau Chun-him, Shiou Chieh-kai, Berant Zhu, Nash Zhang, Nikki Hsieh, Johnny Yang, and JC Lin. At the Moment explores the multiple aspects of love during the pandemic, weaving together 10 different stories of human connection and intersecting lives, all centered around the production of a reality dating show.

Presenting snapshots of each relationship, the trailer hints at the breadth and depth of the anthology, including a sneak peek into the main soundtrack sung by Jolin Tsai, one of the most influential pop culture figures in Mandopop.

Executive producer Nick Tai shared, “In At the Moment, we set ourselves a few challenges to create a romance series that is different — we worked with five directors, 20 talented cast members, 10 independent bands and the queen of Chinese pop music to orchestrate 10 distinct love stories of human connections, and it was truly a remarkable effort to bring this to life.”

From romantic meet cutes and falling in love to the emotional upheavals within a relationship, the main trailer of At the Moment reveals a range of love experiences. Ruby Lin (Copycat Killer, Light the Night), portrays a character whose unique same-gender relationship with her high school sweetheart, played by Kelly Lin, is forbidden by those around them, said, “I’ve always wanted to play a role like this, and I’m thrilled to be able to act alongside a good friend like Lin. I look forward to reprising a similar role in more films and shows.”

In another storyline, Tseng Jing-hua (Your Name Engraved Herein) finds himself embroiled in an unexpected office romance with his supervisor, portrayed by Alyssa Chia. Describing his experience filming alongside Chia, he said, “It was nerve-wracking but exhilarating to be able to star alongside Alyssa and accomplish the most important relationship scene on the first day of filming, and I’m glad it all went well.”

In a separate episode, Marry My Dead Body star Austin Lin takes on the role of a charming hair stylist in a budding relationship with a blind woman, played by Huang Lu Tzu-yin (Lulu), whom he meets on the subway. Their relationship is further complicated by secrets and distractions.

Shedding light on the character, Lin shared, “Growing up, Hsu Pei-ming has never felt the love from his family, and this translates to him searching for love from whoever he meets in life.” Reflecting on his experience working on an anthology series, Lin said, “In an anthology series, we have less time with other actors than we would a regular series, so it was an interesting challenge for me to bring out the different dynamics with each character within a short period.”

All 10 episodes of At the Moment will start streaming on November 10, only on Netflix.
