Being part of Luo Zhi and Sheng Huainan’s romantic journey in Unrequited Love for the past few weeks makes you reminisce your very own young love story.
Especially that love story you bravely claimed and earnestly fought for when you were young. There are sure evident lapses in the storytelling; moments when you want to speed up and characters that don’t make sense.
Ultimately, its discernible merit lies on the heroine’s admirable devotion. It was made even sweeter by the hero’s enthusiasm to make up for all the love and pain he gave her, which he was not aware of.
Unfortunately, I will have to make a summary of episodes 25 to 38 in this review since my schedule is loaded to the hilt.

Unrequited Love Episodes 25 – Finale Quick Recap
Huainan learns from Baili that Luo Zhi went back to Harbin. Baili also takes the opportunity to chide him about all the pain he’s caused her friend. Making a decision, Huainan follows Luo Zhi to Harbin and tries to win her over. However, misunderstandings involving Zhanyan keeps on causing Luo Zhi to be hesitant on sealing the mutual love they both feel.
Finally, Huainan’s perseverance paid off, but not without Luo Zhi giving him an adorable hard time. Sealing the love that took years to be realized, the two bask in romance.
But Huainan is left with no choice but to disappear again in Luo Zhi’s life when his family went bankrupt. Vowing to work hard so he can be worthy of Luo Zhi, he meets him again years after at the very place where Luo Zhi’s love for Huainan blossomed fervently.
Unrequited Love Peak Points
Luo Zhi & Huainan’s Love Story
While we’ve seen a lot of campus love story in dramaland, the charm of Unrequited Love for me is its focus on the University life setting of the main leads. Although their story traces from when they were young up to Luo Zhi’s one-sided love in high school, the highlights of their romance was captured ardently when they were in college.
The love pairing couldn’t be anymore fit to be with each other. Going through the misunderstandings and love-driven acceptance, cheering for Huainan and Luo Zhi’s ever-after became something I passionately rooted for.
Beautiful Lines About Love & Life
Parading stunning lines especially in the perspective of Luo Zhi, I enjoyed immensely her thoughts as a woman braving the odds to get the love she harbored for almost all her life. If you are about Luo Zhi’s age, it is quite a good drama with best example on tackling young love.
On that note, the series teems with different types of unreturned love. All of which provided not just blissful but harrowing moments defining how young love can’t be called love, if you did not once go crazy for it.
Unrequited Love Musings
Limiting the characters who moved in the story would definitely make the entire picture the same as how it was heavily bombarded with side love stories. Focusing on Luo Zhi and Huainan’s love story made it easy for me to overlook the surplus of characters and side stories in the series.
Most of the time, those bear no meaning at all to be honest, and how I wish the frames used for them were used to lengthen the years-after reunion of the lead pairing. There was a missing nudge in the concluding episode that cannot be compensated by the meaningful smiles the two shared in the fading scenes.
Nevertheless, Unrequited Love has gifted a lot of saccharine scenes and its light and relatable mood makes all 38 messy-or-not chapters worth it. If your drama list is a bit heavy, this series thaws the saturation easily.
More than its funneled depiction of “one great love” story, it also endows with messages about how going through youth means experiencing setbacks, regrets and triumphs. Meaningful moments that would later strengthen the life full of challenges past our younger years.
