Crush First Half Story
Dreaming of becoming a radio broadcaster someday, Wu-Yan is a graduating Psychology student who fell in love with music.
Having her earphones on, she loves listening to the radio and admires a mysterious songwriter with a pen name, “Yi-Jin.”
Yin-Jin’s songwriter skills caught the heart of Wu-yan which results in ample adoration. One day while listening to the radio, she saw a man sitting beside her seat.
When she saw the face of the man, Wu-yan fell in love at first sight. Being a cheerful person, she told Cheng-yin (Mei Yi Chen), her best friend, about the man that she saw.
Since Wu-yan is already a graduating student, she went to a SPED school as a site for her internship. At that school, she meets Su Nian Qin. She recognized immediately the same man she fell in love with recently.
However, she notices that Su Nian Qin is blind. Even though Nian Qin has this disability, Wu-yang doesn’t care and continues to make efforts so that Nian Qin would notice her.
Knowing Nian Qin’s personality, he is a bit cold and doesn’t smile a lot. During her internship, Wu-yang saw Nian Qin playing the piano, and this piques her attention.
Later on, she discovers that her songwriter idol “Yi-Jin,” turns out to be Su Nian Qin. Wu-yan asks Nian Qin if he is Yi-Jin. However, Nian Qian refuses to answer.
Deep inside, Wu-yan believes that Nian-Qin is Yi-Jin. That is because of his taste in music and the insightful lines that Yi-Jin uses in his songs.
In later episodes, Su Nian Qin admits that he is Yi-Jin. Along with this, Wu-yan confesses her feelings to Nian Qin. Even though it started tough, Nian Qin realizes that he also likes Wu-yan.
Nian Qin and Wu-yan start to date. Wu-yan takes care of Nian-Qin whenever they go and make sure that nobody bumps into him. They both make each other happy and also share a passionate kiss.
One day, Wu-yan left her phone at Nian-Qin’s home, and it suddenly rings. Nian-Qin picks up the phone and is shocked that it is the mother of Wu-yan.
Wu-yan’s mother tells Nian-Qin that she opposes their relationship. However, Nian-Qin didn’t tell Wu-yan about their conversation.
Crush Mid-Series Musings
Overall, I find the plot of Crush not new because there are lots of dramas that centers on the love story of a man or a woman who has a disability.
Since Crush is only the second C-drama that I’ve watched, I find Wu-yan so passionate about her dream to be a broadcaster. Even though she studies Psychology, she still pursues the path she wants to take.
I also admired her genuine feelings for Nian-Qin despite his eye disability. Wu-yan’s efforts to make Nian-Qin happy are seen when they were going out for dates or takes care of him in his house.
It’s also the same for Nian-Qin. His blindness doesn’t become a hindrance for him to show his love to Wu-Yan. He even cooked and prepared food for Wu-yan when she was sick.
However, sometimes I am worried about Nian-Qin because there are scenes that he walks fast. I don’t know if all blind people can walk that way, but I hope they made it more realistic, or maybe Nian-Qin got used to his condition.
In Crush‘s mid-series episode, I have a great feeling that the parents of Wu-yan would push for them to be separated. On a lighter note, I am hoping that Nian-Qin can see again so that he can see the face of the woman that she genuinely loves.
If you are a firm believer that love knows no boundaries, then add Crush to your list!
