The cast and crew of Confidence Queen gathered in Seoul to tease fans with what’s ahead in this stylish comedy-heist K-drama.
Director Nam Ki-hoon joined stars Park Min Young, Park Hee Soon, and Joo Jong Hyuk to share behind-the-scenes stories and what viewers can expect when the series drops on September 6, streaming exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries.
Confidence Queen follows Yi-rang (Park Min Young), a brilliant swindler who joins forces with James (Park Hee Soon) and Gu-ho (Joo Jong Hyuk). Together, they run elaborate schemes to outsmart the corrupt and reclaim dirty money—all while serving up equal doses of action, comedy, and heart.
Here’s why this series is about to steal your attention:
1. The Reign of Queen Park Min Young
Fresh off her global hit Marry My Husband, Park Min Young returns with a bold transformation.
As Yi-rang, she transforms into a fearless, razor-sharp strategist who thrives on deception and reinvention. “I was drawn to the chance to play someone completely different,” Park said, reflecting on her choice of project.
From slick disguises to bold maneuvers, her performance promises to showcase her incredible range. Fans can expect her to slip seamlessly between personas, embodying everything from a glamorous socialite to an unassuming trickster—all while masterminding cons that expose the darkest sides of her targets.

2. A Cast That Clicks
Joining Park is powerhouse Park Hee-soon (My Name, Trolley) and rising star Joo Jong-hyuk (Extraordinary Attorney Woo). Fans can also look forward to scene-stealing cameos from Song Ji Hyo, Rowoon, Oh Na-ra, and even Park’s Marry My Husband co-star Lee Yi Kyung.
Park Min Young laughed while recalling Lee’s cameo: “When I read the script about a character singing the song ‘Emergency’ by Izi while defecating, I thought that he would be perfect for the role because of his great comedy skills.”
3. From Japan to Korea, With a Twist
Adapted from Japan’s hit series Confidence Man, the Korean remake strikes a delicate balance between paying homage to the original and carving out its own identity.
Director Nam Ki-hoon explained, “We wanted to focus not just on the thrill of the cons, but the reasons behind them. With Yi-rang at the center, the trio’s schemes unfold like a puzzle—layered and interconnected.” He added that the Korean version places stronger emphasis on Yi-rang’s personal journey, giving audiences an emotionally richer story.
This blend of clever storytelling and character depth is what sets Confidence Queen apart from other caper dramas, making it more than just a stylish scam show.
4. Costumes, Chaos, and Comedy
One of the series’ biggest draws lies in its commitment to disguise. With each new heist, the trio transforms into new characters, complete with outrageous costumes and spot-on performances.
Joo Jong-hyuk revealed that he had around 10 to 15 different looks throughout the show, one of which involved a painstaking two-and-a-half-hour transformation into a woman. “It reminded me of being on King of Masked Singer—you put on the costume and suddenly become someone else,” he laughed.
Veteran actor Park Hee-soon also embraced the fun of his many disguises. “Sometimes I’d walk on set in costume, and even the director wouldn’t recognize me,” he shared. Expect everything from laugh-out-loud comedic getups to clever disguises that keep both characters and audiences guessing.
5. More Than Just a Heist Show
While the costumes and comedy promise endless entertainment, Confidence Queen also carries weightier themes. Each episode introduces a new villain, often tied to broader social issues—from greed and corruption to abuse of power.
“The story is like a puzzle,” Nam Ki-hoon said. “Each episode stands on its own, but together they reveal a larger picture. We worked hard to layer in meaning while still keeping the energy fun and fast-paced.” The director also expressed his hope that the series would resonate enough to earn multiple seasons, hinting at even bigger schemes down the road.
Confidence Queen promises high-energy scams, outrageous disguises, and a leading lady in her sharpest role yet.
Streaming exclusively on Prime Video beginning September 6, with new episodes every weekend, Confidence Queen is ready to charm, thrill, and outwit audiences worldwide.
