On Being Part of a Well-Made Drama
From the onset, her kind character was already one of the challenges Ha Yoon Kyung pondered on. Confessing, she was not sure how to express it. The director responds by asking what kind of person she is.
Following that thought, she conveyed her goal as a person.
“My goal is to be a good person and live honestly,” she said. Drawing the character of Su-yeon, she relayed how she makes better choices and wants to do good choices.
Acknowledging the lessons she learned from her character, she also gave her two cents on why the drama was loved immensely.
“I thought the script would develop into a well-made drama and become quite popular because it was interesting, but I didn’t think it would become a blast. I thought that people were very tired of the provocative story. I think the best thing is comfort and sincerity.”
On Her First Project Without Audition
Fulfilling her dream to join a work without audition, Ha Yoon Kyung communicated the hard work required for actresses.
“I thought I wanted to do a project without an audition even once, but it’s surprisingly difficult. There are people who become rookies quickly without an audition, but that’s the story of a small number of people. It’s the audition life for many. I thought it would be very pleasant, but I only imagined it like that. I was so grateful that that imagination had become a reality. Even as an actor, it was a character that I had a lot to try. It was not simply used but had its own story, values, and three-dimensionality. It was a work that I was very grateful for.”
Appearing in two popular dramas, the actress is grateful and wants to stay grounded. While celebrating the happy experiences, she wants to be in a moderately comfortable state without being overly excited.
On Extraordinary Attorney Woo Season 2
Conveying her thoughts about the second season, the actress is also curious about Su-yeon and Min-woo would date or not. She also looks forward to how Suyeon develops as a lawyer.
“I want a lawyer’s story about how much she grew up working in the courtroom and working in the office. It would be nice if there was a love story on the side.”
Responding to the opinion that Su-yeon’s love line with Min-woo was sudden, Ha Yoon Kyung gave a sound reply.
“In a situation where there were many episodes that had to be dealt with in court, it was difficult to build up our story one by one. I wanted to make it comical to break people’s hearts, to make it fun, and to express it in a cuter way because it can be difficult to understand if it’s really mutual feelings just because you’re denying it. I don’t think that’s a confession of love.”
On Character Preparations and Interactions
Speaking is the skill that Ha Yoon Kyung focused on for her role.
“I thought I should be good at speaking, so I paid a lot of attention to pronunciation and other things. There are times when my acting doesn’t go well because I care too much about speaking, so I thought that I had to strike a good balance.”
Speaking about her relationship with Park Eun Bin, she confessed to teasing her for being a “senior actor” on set.
“Eun-bin treats everyone with a smile. She is a friend I can learn a lot from. A friend who always gives great motivation.”
When asked about her collaboration with Joo Jong Hyuk, she describes the actor which totally contradicts what the viewers perceived him to be.
“He has a great personality. I got to know him the quickest. He laughs and smiles easily. He has a lot of passion for acting, so he always asks for advice. I thought he was asking for advice because he trusted me. Actually, he is genuinely kind, but it is a pity that he received a lot of swearing.”
“Spring Sunshine” Scene and Yoon-kyung’s Very Own Sunshine
Viewers root for Su-yeon for being Young-woo’s “spring sunshine”. Ha Yoon Kyung admits that the motivation from viewers helped her complete it.
“I was able to discover and love myself so Su-yeon was able to shine. In a way, it’s burdensome to be responsible. I feel like I’m not that kind of person yet, but I feel like I should become that kind of person. The scene where Eunbin tells Su-yeon that she’s her spring sunshine came out once. But the emotions came naturally from listening to Eunbin. It’s probably more difficult to act emotionally but I think I was able to film it better because Eun-bin made my heart flutter.”
On that note, the actress reveals that her “spring sunshine” are her two cats who make her feel good. It’s like how whales are to Young-woo.
On Her Similarity With Su-yeon
Ha Yoon Kyung discloses her similarity with Su-yeon.
“I think we are 90% similar. I try to make the best choice and think about how to become a good person. I am not yet a good person, but I think that trying to be a good person is similar,” she said.
She also imparted a memorable scene that bears significant essence to the message being imparted by the series.
“There is a scene in which the actor who plays Jeong-hoon cries after being questioned in court. He makes strange expressions and I cried a lot after seeing it. They have a world that we cannot comprehend. I think it was a scene that others can never understand but are trying to understand. The scene where Young-Woo discovers her own limitations was also memorable.”
Overall, the actress has only fond memories of Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Delineating the drama’s therapeutic value; she asserts that it’s an amazing series for people who are tired and who want to be healed.
On Personal Trivia, Endeavors and Convictions
Disclosing her MBTI personality to be ENFP; Ha Yoon Kyung relayed that she prefers things to be neutral. Balance is an important aspect of her life.
“I’ve always thought that to be a good person, you have to be open to everything from a young age. I think that’s important. People don’t make decisions based on their own thoughts. I get angry when there are people I can’t understand, but I think I’ve become more rounded than before. Now I’m not angry about anything.”
When given free time, the gregarious actress prefers staying at home to empty out her thoughts. But since she’s also outgoing, she meets people when she’s not bust at work.
On top of her things to do are resting without doing anything for a week and camping in the mountains.
Giving a peek at the kinds of characters she wants to work on in the future, she expressed going for stronger characters since she’s done realistic roles so far.
“I want to try a character that is strong, charismatic, or unusual, and slightly out of the ordinary.I want to try various things.”
Lastly, she impressively flaunts her eloquence in unveiling her ultimate dream as an actress and a person.
“I want to leave a lasting impression and be remembered with something in some way. I want to become a person who leaves a meaningful impression even if I am not an actress. My goal is not to be physically exhausted. I want to maintain the status quo. Fortunately, I don’t think I have lost my original intention yet. I want to continue on the road to becoming an actress that does not forget she’s a human.”
